While we are all (rightly) lauding young Mikey Moore for his great promise - and that 20 minute spell the other week in particular - it's always worth remembering this performance to put it all in some context! <applause>

What he done to Maicon was criminal. To think at the exact moment Maicon was considered the best RB in Europe too, puts in perspective just what a monstrous display it was, had done it at the San Siro too so it wasn’t even a one-off.

Think Bale was 20 or 21 there though, so in 3-4 years Moore will be doing that to Trent and Gvardiol <whistle>

That was the beginning of the end of Bale at Spurs

He remains the best player I have ever seen wear a Spurs shirt and by a distance the saddest I was to see leave. Not even Kane's departure affected me as much. Unbelievable talent whose progress was as rapid as it was mesmerising.

Seeing him in a Spurs shirt again at the end of his career was such a privilege, even if COVID stripped us of the chance to see him in person.

I was in New York with my son when there was a huge billboard of G Bale in Spurs kit and we hoped that it was a sign that he was staying , **** lot of good that was , I'm the same as you Bale V Kane , Harry was the best striker we've had since Greaves in my opinion but Bale got you out of your seat and took the game by the scruff as he proved with Real and Wales , great regret that Covid and José stopped so many of our younger fans seeing him live

I was in New York that summer too. I met a couple of locals in Spurs shirts, but mostly it seemed to mean **** all to them.

Some absolute bombshells in Hugo Lloris' autobiography, "Earning my Spurs".

The sections about the 18/19 season, the CL final and the Amazon documentary are particularly enlightening. In fact it sounds like the latter was the straw that broke the camel's back for Poch and a number of the senior players, including Kane who decided that season that he needed to move, but stayed on due to a sense of loyalty and commitment to the fans and club.

I swear if photos of the Liverpool squad wearing new Rolexes before the final emerge...
