When I was in the states I watched an article on CNN about exactly this. About how people like John Bolton (former chief of defence) are tied up with people like Lockheed Martin, NorthropGrumman and other arms manufacturers. The whole premise is sold as it’s good for US jobs and the economy and makes America a strong military presence. (The yanks are terrified of being militarily weak)
strangely enough, I was actually at Northrop Grummann in Utah a couple of weeks ago, because they also make rockets for NASA and my brother wanted to do and see the test site where they test the rockets in the desert.

Netanyahu has wanted this all along. He's a warmonger, that's his modus operandi. His core belief is that Israel can only exist if it destroys anybody who opposes it's expansionist aims. Anybody who criticises Israel is an anti-semite, and anybody who fights back is a Terrorist. He will see this as another opportunity to use military force to try and reshape the region in Israel's favour.
Unfortunately this little bully has been enabled by the US and the West, because of their strategic interests in the middle east and their fear of Iran.
Netanyahu can and will increase his regime of terror and destruction, because he knows he can get away with it. He has zero moral grounds for any of it. He's like the Putin of the middle east, except this warmonger has the military, financial and diplomatic backing from the west.
This might not play out quite as Netanyahu was hoping - there will undoubtedly be massive UN pressure for de-escalation, ceasefire and diplomatic resolution... the latter of which can't ignore Palestinian sovereignty...

The idea that "anyone who fights back is a terrorist" is kinda a moot point when Hezbollah have proven in Syria and within Lebanon that they are, 100% a terrorist organization.

Hezbollah shot a rocket, missed and hit a school. This escalated the conflict on the Lebanese border rapidly, Fosse at the time denied this - he made the exact same response "you don't think it's already escalated?!" And now it's actually escalated into a ****ing ground invasion of Lebanon.

I've got no sympathy for the Iranian system or their warped view of Islam, but you have to remember that the Israeli mentality is that kids throwing rocks are also terrorists and legitimate targets.
