My last night in the US tonight, drive back to San Francisco tomorrow. It’s been a ****in epic trip. I’ve taken in California, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho (again), Oregon and back to California. Been in mountains, deserts, lakes, snow, hot springs, geysers, prairies, river gorges, redwood forests, ancient volcanos, pacific beaches, small town communities in the middle of nowhere Just hit the 3200 mile mark. Driving this 30ft beast up mountain roads with a 1000ft drop off the side was interesting, but this home on wheels has done us proud
Glorious day on the coast. The coffee shops are alive with the chat of yoga mums and hungover gays discussing the big 12:30 fixture at Ewood Park.
Offered a round at Rotherham Golf Club today so binning football off. It’s a corporate gig that starts at 12. can see this ending with the Mrs coming to get me and going back for the car tomorrow.
Were some groups with ‘celebs’ David Speedie in the group ahead of us. Bloke in that group dropped out at 9 because as he said….’bloke is a ****’
he was manager for a local side a friend played for about 10 years ago as he moved into the area. Was a **** then, giving it Johnny big balls. Lost all his money a few years ago in a property scheme and drives a taxi now and does odd corporate gig.
****ed off. The neighbour invited me and her to his birthday dinner. He’s not a bad bloke but not into football and just not my cup of tea but she’s said we should go. Half the group are surprisingly laddy considering he’s a bit of a geeky type and I could probably get on with them as much as I’d far rather have my feet up but I’m stuck at the other end of the table with the missus, some 50+ bloke who wears an animal tooth on a necklace, a married Brazilian bird (5/10), a pissed bloke who again doesn’t like football and a bloke who is a bit autistic it seems with a woman who could be his mum or wife. Just want to watch MOTD.
Kind of half expected Speedie to be dead tbh. Always looked a typical weegie scag head. Absolutely not surprised he's ended up a taxi driver.
Turns out it is actually his mum and he’s about 20. Very odd. The neighbour is one of those people who actually does hobbies so it’s his mates from tennis/touch rugby (odd hobby) and whatever other **** he does so it’s a weird mix. Went out for a vape when I saw one of the more normal ones down the other end go out for a *** and he was alright so I reckon I’ve got three minutes before going back in. Food was good. Didn’t get starters because the waiter asked for mains so I’d assumed he’d ordered starters for everyone. He hadn’t. Has sped things up though.
Watching some triple D recordings. CBA with Match of the Day, the hysteria about premier league football is off putting. Mostly East Coast stuff at the moment, but hugely jealous of @PISKIE and his road trip. The yank food just looks superb. **** knows when I'll ever get to do it. I've got a 12 year old daughter and my Mrs is nine + years younger than me, so by the time she retires and all the kids have properly left I'll likely be in a home of some sort playing dominoes all day.
This has been an epic trip. And I’m eternally grateful to my brother who has paid for the majority of it. When I’ve done this in the past though I’ve done a house swap, which is a brilliant way to travel as all you pay for is your flights and spending money. Done it rhis way four times now. Twice to California, once to New York and once to Vancouver island If you’re okay with the idea of somebody staying in your house while you stay theirs, then PM me and I’ll give you the heads up on how I’ve done it.
This trip is all but done now. Sat in a hotel room at SFO waiting for a flight back to Heathrow and then a long ass drive back to cornwall. This was dawn over the Napa Valley at around 5:30am this morning
