Transfer Rumours Saint Justin!

Posted on the transfer rumour thread, but a concern would be his injury record (104 games missed in the last four seasons).

Hopefully he can stay fit, unless we're buying him to keep Bazunu company.

 

Wonder if we will buy him outright or if this will be one of those loan deals where you pay in 12 months (or on survival) for accounting reasons. Guess we will find out soon if they are able to come to an agreement

 

A few broken wrist injuries... get him on a diet of Petis Filous please ASAP.

 

He broke his wrist twice last year (don’t know whether or not it was the same wrist). This year he had a calf injury in February, but has been fit since April.
They sound like injuries that could happen to any keeper, I guess we will have to see whether he is injury-prone or just unlucky on those occasions.

 

Paying after x number of appearances would be a good way to protect against the injury risk. Not sure if Feyenoord would be so keen mind you.

 

I don't think we'd buy a player that was completely crocked. We know what we're doing.

 

There`s a bit of the Artur Boruc about him - it won`t be boring then!

Odd - his transfermarkt value is €13m. And it isn’t the final year of his contract. So I’m not surprised 2.5 was rejected but it does sound like we are potentially getting a theoretical bargain - at least in terms of fee vs potential value. I guess his club needs the money and wages off the bill? By all accounts he was first choice goalkeeper before an injury and most clubs probably can’t carry a reserve goalkeeper on first team keeper wages (although we have for something like 6 years if not longer…)

 

Something for the “always need something to complain about” brigade then. Because it seems like he has scope to do something mental that might cost us some goals. Just hopefully it’s not something boring and routine that costs us goals as seems to be the case with McCarthy and his passing

If this comes off then it will be another one where there was pretty much no mention of it in the rumour mill. I think I saw the name on Saintsweb but it seemed to be someone suggesting options rather than any claim of ITK status

 

We’ve had some good keepers. Shilton, flowers, niemi, Forster, Boruc, plus some others

 

Yeah, they can be quite unforgiving on here (sometimes).

 

Which explains why the last few years have been so difficult to take. I think even in the years when we regularly struggled at the bottom of the league we knew that if we went down it would never be due to the keeper being awful
