Sheffield to Hull is hardly far is it...One hour max, even less depending on which side of Sheff. As you point out its down to pounds-shillings-and pence, plain and simple. Blunts offered him more than us, hence a 'sudden' change of mind. I bet he was on a fair whack at Ipswich when he came in for the final promotion push.
Looks like they might be trying to sort out some of the complexities of the deal. Read somewhere that he owns a percentage of himself...? Would also urge caution given that Bournemouth think his agent messed them around in Jan. Thought they had him then his agent tried to change the deal at the last minute. Where there's money to be made there's always someone around to take advantage.
There was nothing we could offer that the bigger Sheff Utd couldn't offer Moore, on top of that, it's conveniently located for him - No brainer. Slater is happy to make the trip due to the opportunity of actually playing and likewise, many players would be flexible with regards to location providing there's opportunity but of course location is a factor.
Bit of a difference between a four month loan period where he can stay in a hotel and a three year or four year commitment.
Communication - at this point it would be good to have some comment / clarity from the owners to offset fans concerns at the ‘lack of progress ‘ apparent or not . Specifics would be dangerous so it has to be a very careful statement - reassurance is what we need . As for fast process Asante hasn’t signed yet for Cov , maybe today but they’ve had two day FFS , what are they playing at!
I'm not saying that isn't the case but if it is why did we expect to sign him up to the last minute if the decision was location for not coming. You'd expect it the other way round, expected to sign for Coventry but we offer more money and playing time. It looks like they came in last minute and the location is what changed his mind
Too late I’ve got Mark Cullen and Craig ***an with banners n placards protesting outside my house now
It’s obviously frustrating but I don’t think there’s anything more sinister then just simple bad luck, different circumstances opened up twice which drastically suit the other player, I wasn’t too bothered to miss out on Moore and Asante seemed a mix bag on his reviews from WBA, if we get Melhelm and the Colombian lad in before Saturday and make progress with Millar/Hughes/Mckenna everything is still going to be fine imo.
Is this thing about getting more game time a real thing, same money or less for running around getting tired, grief from the fans when you're not as good as they think you should be and the chance of getting injured possibly career ending compared to sitting on the bench and occasionally having a game no one watches with the reserves? Does anyone really think the young footballers today have morals?
It's not to do with morals. Young footballers want to play to progress their career. They're not going to get that big move if they play in the reserves. Older footballers might definitely be happy to pick up a cheque for doing nothing
I live in Sheffield and in good traffic it's an hour and 20 to the ground, bad traffic, can take nearer 2 hours. Where the footballers live in West Sheffield, it's about 5 mins to the new Sheffield U training ground in Dore.
He was only announced as going there 24 hours ago, medical already booked for today and I reckon he'll be announced today or tomorrow. Let's see..
Good. Should be very interesting. I'm sure some attending will be asking questions about just what the heck is going on.
