I'm that old I can't fooking remember I'm pretty sure it was "Madness, my girl" . But "embarrassment" rings a bell too. I can't remember the first album. I was into the police and ska/two tone. Madness, specials , the beat, selector etc. and then the mod revival. Think it might of been the police, regatta de blanc, quickly followed by The Jam, Setting sons. I was just hooked on the Jam from then on back in the day.
Honky Tonk Women . Bought the single hoyed it on the turntable and lay on the sitting room carpet with me head in the speaker..!!
You sad fooker To be honest mate. I couldn't stop singing it in me heed after reading that lol As long as you didn't dress like them
Tommy by The Who I was working in the school holidays for a painter and decorator ( who was the son of a friend of my Gran’s). I got £5 a week and I’m sure the album cost £4.19.11. So that was my first week’s wages gone!

Dreamer - Supertramp. Still makes the hairs stand up when I hear it. First album was one of those ****ty Top Of The Pops albums, where all of the songs were sung by studio artists rather than the original singers. God awful they were!
First single was Telstar (The Tornados). Along with the Springfields mentioned by Montysoptician, from 1962 First album: Beatles for Sale
