So, what's the best goal you have ever scored?

I'll go first seeing as I have my own one, playing sunday league at age 18 after a skinfull the night before, taking a freekick on around the corner point of the box.

Placed my foot under the ball and scooped it with the intention of lobbing/floating it towards the 6 yard box, got way too much lift on it and it flew upwards, comes down hits the underside of the bar and beats the keeper.

The lads thought it was intentional and I didn't see the need to impose on their truth.

The best goal I ever scored ...

... for Bracken Park, Nottingham. I played a ball, from the halfway line, inside the full back for our winger. I took off for the edge of the box praying he'd see my run. He did and hit a Summerbee cross at full pelt which I met about waist height. It came at me so fast I barely had to put any power on it but the ball flew into the top corner ...

... was flagged offside which it f*cking never was <doh>

Where was VAR when I really needed it!!!

Playing 5 a side, they had a proper good goalkeeper, like having a brick wall in front of the goal. He was ACTUALLY a goalkeeper. He was in goal for the whole hour. Numerous one on ones were getting saved. It was getting ridiculous. Anyway, found myself one on one, centrally, he came out to the edge of his box to narrow the angle. Whilst still facing the keeper I blasted the ball off the side wall and the ball went into the empty net behind him, goalkeeper rooted to the spot. Both teams stood and clapped, as did the balcony watching.

The best goal I scored was for my mate's elder brother's team when I was 15 or 16. Can't remember what competition it was but it was played somewhere on the edge of Durham. We were asked to play at short notice because the team had two regular players missing. Thought we'd be warming the bench because were at least 10 years younger than everyone else but they started us. There was a corner and the ball was cleared to me on the edge of the box, towards the right hand corner. Usually my left foot is just for standing on but I had no choice and hit a left foot volley that sailed over the keeper and into the top corner. Completely hit and hope but it looked good.

The best goal I didn't score was playing Sunday League years later. I was playing centre midfield and I was absolutely knackered. I think we needed the win or something and time was running out. I was on halfway and someone rolled the ball back to me. I could barely run, there didn't seem to be anything else on but the keeper was off his line so I thought I'd have a go. Sadly, he just managed to get his fingertips to it and pushed it on to the bar.

Most goals I scored were tap ins. I think I got 13 one season at uni. Every one of them was scrappy and from about three yards out.

11 a side best goal. Well, i used to take the corners for South Moor Juniors and the school. I used to try and score directly from them about half of the time. If i failed at least it would put pressure on the keeper, right under the cross bar. Must have scored at least half a dozen. I scored two using the outside of my left foot, so probably one of them were best. The one that sticks in my mind though was one when one of our subs was standing near the corner flag, hed recently joined the team. He knew the wind was in my favour so said 'I'll give you a quid if you score!' Whipped it in with the inside of my left, flew straight in. 'You owe me a quid!' Never got it though.

I can't say that I've ever scored a good goal, as I'm rubbish, but my son scored a great one when playing in some junior league (about age 11). This was around the time that they'd all chase the ball around the field like a swarm of flies, and most goals came from some frantic goal mouth scramble. However, this one time he'd peeled away into the box as the ball was outside the area, and one of his team crossed it, and he headed it past the keeper perfectly into the top corner. It was easily the best goal they'd ever scored.

Unfortunately, none of that was intentional. Having inherited my lack of football skills, and not really being that into the game anyway, he tended to just stay a bit away from the action to avoid getting kicked. He'd happened to wander into the box, and his team mate was more than likely just trying to hoof the ball into the goal, but it happened to bounce off his head. I even think that he wasn't looking at the ball and had turned to look at me as I was yelling at him from the sideline to head it. Still a great goal though.

Scored the winner against the Johnson gramma Durham we hadn’t beaten them for years
Playing for st Leonard’s Durham circa 1964
Neat bit footwork sent the ball wide right then he crossed it into the box
And there was vince met it right on my forehead straight into the net
Ooooh and that was with the size 3 football
Accepted the plaudits with gleee

Only ever scored one goal in a competitive game.
I was a goalkeeper, so should never be anywhere near scoring.
In a Surrey senior game, we were wining 7-0, when we were awarded a penalty. My name was mentioned, and our manager, Mick Morton said let him take it.
I duly took and scored.
As happened with very little time left we conceded a penalty, my immediate reaction was, l hope their keeper isn't taken it.
He didn't but they scored. 8-1.
Mick was Alan Morton's dad, his brother Bob played in the team. He was a very good player, but liked the pop to much.

Was warming up with my Sunday league team when I was around 16, we'd just got out on the pitch so weren't doing any drills or anything, just passing it about. One of my mates from the corner flag whipped the ball into the edge of the box where I was stood and I caught it flush with a side on volley, the type where the ball comes across your body, and it flew top corner.

It was like the goal at 00:25 on this video...

Nobody other than the keeper even noticed, and he just called me a jammy twat.

Best goal I've ever scored and not an ounce of recognition.

I'm 35 now and still think about that goal often :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I play in goal at 8 a side on Sunday nights these days so don't tend to score anymore.

Stockport Sunday league. Ran with the ball starting from left wing in own half, diagonally across the pitch beating players with speed rather than skill, cut into the box and beat the keeper, at this point on the right hand side of the goal. Bloke watching said I got a round of applause from those watching in the clubhouse. Never heard it as it was pissing down and they were watching from inside.

Didn't even get goal of the season at the awards ceremony as a first team player ran the whole length of the pitch to score in another game. Tosser.

1998,I'm 14, loads of us had a Wembley pair tournament (teams of doubles with one keeper all day). multiple teams of pairs played each other in a leauge fixture format that last all day, 10 minute games,and a mate of mine, kept leauge positions, points, goals for and against, the lot in a league table. As the day went on, groups of people came to watch what we were doing, lasses we fancied etc,small gathering sat on the wall enjoying the entertainment. I'm playing in the last fixture of the day, need a 1 point to win the league, getting beat 2-1, lad keeping stats also the ref for the day shouts "10 seconds... 9...8", my mates got his back to goal, defender on his back, wants me to play it into him as he's about 8 yards out from the goal, 7...6.. I think "f**k it", edge of the D, other lad running to close me down,loads of power with the instep of my right boot,up and over, keeper dives..it's on target... hits the foot of the post and in... everyone goes f**kin mental, I'm stood there arms in the air, everyone runs on the field. One of the best feelings of growing up I had. One of thoes not planned but ended up class things. Goal had absolutely no importance to anyone else, but what a day that was.

Playing for Stanley Central in the Consett Sunday league. I took a corner on the right wing, it went to far post, got headed clear then got played back out to me by a team mate. By this time I'd made my way to the apex of the 18 yard box. For no other reason than I was disappointed with my set-piece I thought fook it. Left foot, hammered it straight as a die in the far corner like an exocet!

On the goals as kids theme, the best one I scored was on the school yard when I was about 14. We played with a tennis ball so that was a bit tricky. More telling was my lack of any great footballing ability. It was the one time that I had a real deja vu feeling. The ball was out on the left so I ambled forward towards goal. Then I had this vision of the ball bouncing off the keeper, coming towards me and hitting it with a sort of outside of the foot flick towards goal. A couple of seconds later, a lad on the left shot towards goal and the keeper saved it. The ball ricocheted towards me and I thought bloody hell, the ball has indeed bounced towards me. It was up in the air at about waist height so a normal shot or volley was too difficult. It was a decent distance away from goal still. With the outside of my right foot, I connected with the ball level to my right hip. To my surprise, it shot off towards goal. It wasn't too far from the keeper so it looked like it might be saved. No! Surprised by the sublime and audacious attempt it flew past him. Get in! A teammate said 'you'll never score a goal like that again!' I was stunned and also puzzled by the deja vu so didn't even jump around celebrating. It was a cool but weird experience.

Sunderland Sunday League cup semi final against Shotton Colliery, 1-1 with 1 minute left, we had a free kick left side of the box, Denny Cullen tapped the ball forward and everyone thought I was going to float it into the box, I ran past the wall and smashed it into the far bottom corner. We lost the final 2-1.

Played a inter function game at work, i was manager of 1 team and my flatmate was the manager of the other. I got it tight off him all week about how his team would win as they had a couple of semi pros in their team. My mate was in goals for the other team and he was winding me up all week

I started myself on the bench, i came on in the 2nd half with the score 1-1 and put myself as the no10 (usual a defender)

With 5 minutes to go the ball came to me on the edge of the box, my 1st touch took me away from my flatmate and then i dinked the ball over the head of my mate in goals from 20 yards and into the top corner.

Winning goal, both were raging - they had to pay for my drinks the rest of the night, i kicked the a$$ out of the vodka that night

Was playing 11 aside Saturday afternoon up near Ashington at the time about 24 25ish. Ball looped out 25 yards out I went for the first time volley missed with an airshot which bounced back up off my standing knee an opposition defender came flying out at this point so I flew into what I thought would be a 50/50 about shin height and caught the ball sweet as a nut with both feet off the ground. (Would have been an awful challenge if the defender didn't bottle it) anyway it flew flush off my foot into the top corner keeper didn't even move. Obviously it was an intentional volley not a horror tackle in the pub later on. We got beat 6-1 and was practically the last kick of the game but still occasionally gets brought up in conversation as a worldie.
