Not sure why Philo is getting some bad press on here. Football is a short career. A top player can last for say 15 years, 16 tops...Unless your name is Ronaldo...Make hay while the sun shines...When the sun goes down and its gone you don't want to look back and say if only I'd taken this or that opportunity. If you get the chance you take the opportunities...The one club man is very rare, unless you play for say a Citeh (e.g. Foden) or a Real Madrid, when it doesn't make sense to move on. Therefore I can't see City stopping any player who wants to go, as long as the deal is good for the club.

 

I don't think he is getting any "bad press" , most people understand that players want to play at the highest level they can

Not sure what you're asking me. Last I heard about Ohio was someone said he's signing for some European club for £1.5m.

I just don't think we'll be unveiling a signing in the next week when there's no sign of one being close now. Usually it's several days or even weeks after the point at which we find out about a signing being close that we actually complete the signing.

This Giles deal seems a bit foggy to me, from what I interpreted from FFP conversations on here, internet info & in real life, it appears teams can spend X & spread it across the length of the contract, but selling a player is immediately in club accounts & ready to spend, even though buying team is spreading the payments over the length of the contract.
It seems to be happening a lot with teams at the moment & looks a dodgy way to work round FFP.
Cameron Archer was transferred to Sheff Utd for £19 million, yet they get relegated & Villa “forced” to buy him back for £19 million.
Therefore, technically loaning him out for a year for £19 million & then buying him back for, let’s say a 4 year deal, £4.25 million a year.
Is this how things are working now?
So Giles cost £1 million a year & we sell for £4 million now, but getting paid the same £1 million a year?

 

No Giles cost hits all this year if we sell him.
