Sadly they won;t care, so can't see that happening and the first one to do it should be lobbed off Westminster Bridge.
I agree with this, and we're probably more on the same page than either of us like to admit lol. Although groups like extinction rebellion and just stop oil, aren't part of the green party, their actions definitely affect the electability of the Greens and it doesn't help with Lucas is defending actions that affect people just trying to get to work etc By all means go and protest at big oil refineries, or at the HQ of big water companies that pollute our rivers and seas. But when you lie in the road and stop people getting to work, or to visit sick relatives etc, then it's simply counter productive to the message you're trying to get across. People using their cars aren't the problem, they are just subject to the system that we're all in. And pissing them off isn't going to achieve anything
****in hell One step away from that Reform campaigner who said the Army cadets should use refugees as target practice.
Liz Truss has asked that the British people "give her a bit of time" as she contemplates her political future. No problem Liz, we'll happily give you 70 years. No rush.
Same number seats but quadruple the amount of votes. They'll need to play the next few years carefully. Farage says they'll go for Labour next but I doubt that. They'll have seen how many votes they siphoned off of the Tories and will now probably focus on splintering that party further, with possible MP defections further down the line.
Did anyone hear Steve Bakers reaction to losing his seat? He was sort of giving his canned responses and then just went "and you know, I'm glad." "Wait, you're glad" "Yes, its been a honour representing Wycombe, but let me tell you this job isn't fun and I won't be coming back"
It's what the country needs, a steady hand instead of some cult of personality PM The Tories have lost so many seats, they'll be butted up right against the Lib Dems and there will be so many Labour MPs that some of them will have to sit on the same side of the house as there's not enough room for them on the Govt benches lol Literally surrounded.
Plus when they do these protests, they don't know what the people are already doing towards being Green, when they affect them with their protests. My home has an excellent energy rating. Although I've got a car, I hate driving it - public transport don't help, well until you get in London - Getting a cab is not cheap, and it don't really help the environment either, because a return journey for a cab driver involves 4 trips unless you have a cab parked outside your house and then parked in the right location for your return journey. Walking is possible but a long walk and not always practical. Most people do some form of recycling these days. I'm not overkeen on Nuclear power but I accept it. I certainly am not keen on electric cars, but just bite my tongue on it and I don't pretend to have the answers, personally I'd have gone hybrid, but I'm sure people can argue against that as well. But whatever the choices they also have to be affordable for everyone.
Agreed It's easy to be idealistic when you can afford a £50k electric car rather than a 12 year old monster truck But you're right, all of these Green principles are sound in theory, but you need to make them affordable to ordinary people to make it all effective. There's also the argument I was talking about the other day, where it has less of an impact to use something that already exists, rather than building a load of new stuff with all of the associated energy costs. I'm on a similar stance with Nuclear, I'd rather we didn't need to use it, but whilst we transition away from fossil fuels, then unless/ when you're going to build vast swathes of renewables, to replace coal, oil and nucelar, then you have to have a mix. Partly also to be able to keep prices down for consumers (although there's an argument there about Gas and Oil profits)
I think Pinkie needs to be released from his incarceration to spread the message of the Union on the Spurs board
Are we talking about the same Pinkie? EDIT: Truth be told it has got better since HIAG's passing. Prior to that the two of them were like rabbits in heat.
Hybrid should have been the halfway house between current vehicles and Electric vehicles, until we have the infrastructure to go fully electric which I doubt will happen in our lifetimes you cannot make the full change When I go into London I use the train but I have to get to the Station which is a couple of miles away, I dont mind walking when it is not freezing cold, boiling hot or pouring with rain but that sums up the weather in our country and sometimes all on the same day If Nuclear energy had been invented to provide power rathe then weapons we could have been in a world powered by a version of Nuclear Fusion rather than Nuclear Fission. the technology would have been harder to achieve but in the long term safer and much cheaper than what we have now
My father inlaw had the first hybrid car that I had been it, many years ago now. It was expensive to buy at the time but so economical on fuel. I thought then if you really wanted to cut fuel consumption over night, then there was your answer, and the more people you got over to them, the cheaper they would become. Like you say the halfway house.
A lot of the newer electric cars are giant SUV's that weigh twice as much as a normal car, I may be wrong (unlikely) but the pot hole problems seem to have risen dramatically since the arrival of the electric SUV"s
