I've noticed Scout give this a like, could he be the mystery man that him and Prehab have been told about? (not trying to tempt you Scout )
Fabregas is one of two assistant managers at Como. They've been led since December by caretaker manager Osian Roberts, who's usual role is development manager, a 58 year old Welshman, who's playing career reached the dizzying heights of Bangor City and Llangefni Town.
Tbh i have been told a few different names now lol Think that just shows how tightly its being kept Reckon it wont be long till we find out anyway
I've been canny critical of the club and stand by it but one thing I will give them props for is how quiet they keep things these days, this isnt the first time either, signings and even Beale kept well under the radar.
2 names have been mentioned quite a few times on here and the 3rd was a new name to me but the person did say it was unlikely to be them All 3 i like the sound of and would be happy with - 2 id be really excited by Im hoping we hear in the next 24/48 hrs
I think rightfully critical at this stage but i think if its an appointment that you like then youll def be less critical The biggest issue was they waited too long for Still, but that deal was pretty much done, he agreed on everything (was getting everything he wanted) but couldn't sign till 1st of June due to comp that reims would have been due. Lens came in and from what I've been told (from a reliable contact that has nothing to do with sunderland) said is that Still felt Lens gives him the better opportunity to then move to 1 of the big clubs in France or get a top half PL team. Hes an ambitious guy for sure but i was told he was impressed by what we had offered him The issue is they have acted quickly enough since then imo - it needs to be sorted this week and im quietly confident it will be
If thats how you feel, then thats good enough for me mate. You are right that if I like the appointment, my frustration will probably fade fast being the fickle git I am. But still think there will be underlying concerns about our footballing operations. Still time to get it right, but put a hell of a lot of pressure on themselves leaving it this long.
Thanks, as I thought you're trying to compare apples with oranges ... ... anyone recruited into a high profile oil & gas position would have the commensurate experience. I keep seeing people trying to compare football with their own employment, it just doesn't compute tbh.
I did wonder about Still’s thinking with that, when you see the clamour there was for McKenna and the job Maresca has landed off the back of a season in the Championship (even Kompany to an extent) suddenly this league looks like a cracking stepping stone for head coaches.
Yep they still have a lot to learn, it takes time to build that 'list' of suitable candidates and i think losing james young has had a massive impact on it Its the same with player recruitment, it takes yrs to build a really solid scouting team. I've been at my club for 3 yrs and im just now building a true understanding of what is needed to improve our team Huge summer ahead so they just need to get their manager in now
May be completely misguided mate but my understanding was James Young had built the systems we now use, so the feeling internally was that it wouldn’t impact things much (if at all). Whether that is how it’s panned out is another matter, mind.
All I am doing Smug is looking at the process.. The way Topcat described the model for recruitment at the top end of business was a broad statement for general recruitment...which is not the case when recruiting for certain positions.. I know, I have been involved. Each business has its own little quirks..I'm sure football does as well...but the process is pretty similar...not saying exact, but similar... again, all I am saying the way they appear to have dealt with this is greatly flawed. Thats assuming the Will Still story was true, and if its not what's the excuse for the delay. We all want the same thing, but you have to admit this process has not been dealt with professionally. The goodwill the owner has had (correctly in my opinion) has been draining away with this. He needs this person to hit the ground running for sure.
