Josh Edwards is having his medical today. Alex Mitchell is close to joining as is a forward.

Not having the legs for Prem/Champ football doesn't mean he can't do box to box for 90mins in League 1.

Ben Watson was brilliant for you when he dropped down to League One for his last few seasons - you managed to get 44 games out of him.

Where’s your proof to show that is how it works - or is that something you’ve just made up ?

One thing I have noticed over time about transfers , and it’s not confined to this forum.

It applies to a couple of the most miserable gobshItes on CL, who post about everything and anything each day, as well as a couple of pub bores and of course BB on ITTV …they never welcome a new signing, or are positive about it, or praise our Academy talent, or players who are doing well for us.

    Its very odd <confused>

I understand it in BBs case, as the lights are on but nobody is at home, but for a hardcore of others who cannot go a single day without posting on a Charlton forum - they never have anything positive to say either about a new signing, or an Academy starlet. Or a stand out performer like George Dobson or Alfie May.

FOR GOODNESS SAKE - It’s what Charlie and Andy Scott have said in their various interviews on the OS and to Cawley in the SLP. I don’t just make things up !

And NJ hasn’t contradicted any of it in the statements he’s made about the process either.

I can’t be entirely sure about every single post on here, but certainly I and pretty much every other poster on here over the course of last season was highly complimentary and appreciative of Dobbo and Alfie, game after game. Likewise the academy kids. Some of them are excellent and where they have struggled it has been entirely due to the fact that they were being overplayed, due to the dross we have as alternatives.

As for our new signings - unfortunately most of them have simply not been of the required standard to adequately improve the team towards a promotion side, so it’s natural that most of their arrivals have not been greeted with much enthusiasm. You yourself have quite rightly highlighted some of the dross that we have signed since SE7 partners took over and of course our awful finishing position in the table merely reinforces that view.

I can’t speak for other forums, but on here we have been very supportive of Dobbo, Alfie and the kids.

I don’t expect you to read through a years worth of match threads or posts, but both Dobbo and Alfie have their own threads on here and it won’t take you long to read through them if you wanted to check what I’m saying. I’d be very surprised that if you did so, you would say that we haven’t been full of praise for the only two stand out performers from last season.

Show me that I’m wrong if you can.

Or I guess you could just ignore this post yet again if you can’t.

Doesn’t matter either way - the true position is as I state it above, not anything made up with no supporting evidence.

Appleton had the title "Head Coach ", NJ is "manager", which suggests that Apples had to make do with whatever the SMT gave him, without his input. Seems we're dancing on the head of a pin. There is a difference now, how much remains to be seen.

I think TC has highlighted what is 'wrong' with Luke Berry.
We aren't often going to get a whole 90 minutes out of him.

    A pity.
It doesn't make him worthless. But he isn't as large a piece of the puzzle as he might have looked at first glance.

Although TC also says that Ben Watson was brilliant for us, so maybe a pinch of salt is required <laugh>

Have you seen him play? How can you make a decision if he can last the 90 minutes? I have seen him play a number of times and he is a great addition to the squad.

My last post on this subject for now - I have seen a change for the better since NJ was appointed MANAGER, he managed to steady a sinking ship with the players he inherited, this is his first real window to mix things up a bit . Getting Luke Berry is definitely a step in the right direction and hopefully more decent signings to come , if we lose Alfie I’m sure NJ has a good replacement lined up , if he hasn’t then I’ll become concerned but I’m not hitting the panic button just yet !

Let's see how many full games Berry plays during the first three months of the upcoming season.

I was only going by the information TC supplied about Berry's recent appearances.
Time will tell how he gets on in L1 later this year.

I was not aware that I had to have seen Berry play before I could have a point of view about him.

It does help, which is why I haven’t got an opinion on him yet.

OK. I'll not comment again on our new signings this season.

It’s like One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest on here.

In the Communal Waiting Room with blankets over their knees, you’ve got a Conspiracy Theorist, a walking human raincloud, and a 4’8 WUM from Brazil <doh>

Classic Lardi …you go from 0 to 100 faster than a Lamborghini.

Nobody is saying don’t comment on new signings …just maybe have a look at them first ?

Charlie Kirk. Amid all the enthusiasm for this expensive signing I said exactly the same.
