Implying sticking with Dodds and Proctor - if true going nowhere this club imo. Imagine any other championship club having Dodds and Proctor as absolutes in first team management roles? One thing we do know is they aren't capable of stepping in as caretakers adequately.
‘potential new coach’ vs ‘could have been coach’… I’d be interested to hear the result , but more importantly how the teams set up and play.. I don’t have TNT
question for you mate do you know any of the coach's at other championships clubs and at what level the coaching is ?
I get it. We're clearly selling stability to these young players we're signing. And it's helping us get some players who we'd may e struggle to get. So helps with retaining our best prospects. As long as the new manager can bring in an assistant, I don't see any issue
If they want another do we say no? Just got the same of Dodds and Proctor ? They have far to much weight because of Speakman. Both should be left to duties at the AOL. Calling zero shots on the match day.
I see an issue in that a new manager can be undermined in the background by the unsackable duo reporting back to the sporting director if they don't see eye to eye with the new head coach.
I don't think any of us will get answers the questions you pose, we will get that they tried etc but I'd be suprised if anyone at the club would give hard and fast answers to why we haven't signed a centre forward. There is pressure on this summers recruitment from fans and I suspect the owners, it could be a long summer
Yes but I believe u21s and academy trained players don't count. I believe the limit next season is 6, was 7 this season. Could be wrong though.
Exactly. This insistence that any new head coach has to have those 2 (who haven't actually achieved much in the game/own goal records excepting) must be ruling out lots of potentially good candidates?
There's certainly some of the u21's that need loans, I'd like to see Crompton out on loan as I really rate him.
This I think is the possibility as a club we need everybody to buy into what we are trying to achieve and we cannot have division in the camp from anywhere that goes from the boardroom to the tea lady. It is not acceptable if we are destroying ourselves from within and if that is or has been the case then it needs to be stamped out immediately. I don't think we are at a stage like that but looking at the troubles in the head coach and coaching departments I can see reason in this thinking. If the influence of Dodds and Proctor undermines the new head coach or previous head coaches then that situation should be addressed by the DoF and if he is encouraging or allowing it to play out then I am afraid my support for him would be gone as division and in fighting is mot conducive to a successful club. This of course is all supposition on my part and there is nothing factual to suggest this is what has happened only time will tell if ther is any truth to this scenario.
No, we won't. Which is kind of my point, although I realise it's a stance that undermines the point of a discussion forum to some extent. Because we don't know the answers to those questions, we can't really make any accurate judgement on how Speakman has performed. People make too many assumptions, like the retention of Dodds under the next coach, and base their opinions on those assumptions, rather than the facts we have access to. If Speakman is sacked come the summer, we can assume that KLD and the board think he's not performed as well as he should. If he stays, then KLD must think he's done at least well enough to warrant a second chance.
I haven't been impressed with our outgoing loans this season, we need to get a lot better at it. We should be sending them to good levels where they will play consistently and at teams which play a similar style to us.
I’m sure you haven’t mate, it was just a way of making a point But everyone uses select samples, and are you suggesting that his agenda is for it to implode so he can say he’s right? Im not sure that is his agenda at all. Like I say, let’s say everyone has an agenda, it is to be successful in some proportionate form. He might think that would come by sacking Speakman, you think otherwise.
That's because he sees players as investments, which is why he bought Mundle when we didn't need another winger, because the deal was good.
I know mate, but on the flip side, they have to listen to counter arguments. It’s what a messageboard is for. I’ve no doubt in my mind that people have a dislike for some, I wouldn’t know if it’s irrational. Some make some good points, the only difference is they may think getting rid of those people will have the same end product as you think that by keeping them will.
You're right, most people just want the club to be successful. I'd argue a messageboard is about discussion and the exchange of ideas (and entertainment), not repeating the same things ad infinitum in the face of evidence which contradicts them.
You see, that’s the difference. For the last 30 years, I’ve argued over contracts, Mon to Fri, couldn’t sleep Sat or Sun, cos I was thinking about the next argument. We were contract bound and despite it being the same contract we had a different interpretation dependant on what side of the table we were sat. Doesn’t matter what they thought it said, I thought different. Now I’m head of estates for a care home company, I have no one to argue with and we are all on the same side. So I come on here for my fix
