I don’t know why Eze signed a new contract. It really doesn’t make much sense from the player perspective if they think a club(s) they want to play for are interested in them. Running down their contract makes them cheaper to buy (and ultimately free) and that gives them greater leverage on negotiating higher pay. The only reasons to sign a new contract with us would be for a shedload more cash every week or if they don’t believe there will be any interest from any decent clubs and they are scared of unemployment.

For the vast majority of footballers that would make sense. I think Eze is a much less money oriented footballer than most. Decided not to go to Newcastle for more money when he left us to be near his family at Palace. Apparently spends his free time doing soup runs for homeless people with his mum's church. Has always come across as a grounded guy that is probably fine with his 80k odd per week.

Hodge deal looks close or even done, according to the BBC:

"Wolves midfielder Joe Hodge is set to join QPR on loan for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old is on the bench for Wolves’ Premier League encounter with Manchester United right now but will complete the switch immediately afterwards.

Hodge has only made two appearances so far this season, most recently in the FA Cup third-round replay against Brentford on 16 January.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international is keen to play more often and manager Gary O’Neil has agreed to this."

I think Jeff hit the nail on the head. Beggars can't be choosers. The signing of Hayden on loan is a no brainer for me. Adds more depth to the squad and at still only 28, should have the hunger for the game. Welcome lad.

Colback and Field pick up yellow cards nearly every game, we'll certainly need someone else in that position. Decent interview, very thoughtful, I like the fact he talks about accountability, something this team has lacked for several years now.

Palace have bought Wharton from Blackburn, so that's 1 less player we have to face at weekend ! Shame someone can't buy Szmodics

Unless they teleport him that's a dead duck...
If he's fit enough to play for Wolves then he'll pass our "Fitness Test". All he needs to do is squiggle a signiture on a piece of paper.
I presume all else would have been done pre-match.
