It's quite possible that Rangers weren't as far advanced in the development of their "model" as we are or their recruitment team aren't as skilled as ours. All this outpouring of anger is bizarre Firstly, we don't know the reasons Mowbray was sacked and secondly talk of "ambition" and "markers" are just for the fanbase. The owners will want someone who they believe can take us forward and work within the model. Pretty sure Beale had a load of youngsters at QPR. It's the social media side where people are saying we only went for the cheap option and the owners have no ambition that I cannot abide. Does anyone really think that KLD has sat down and said "**** it, just get someone cheap. I'm not bothered if we get promoted"? Since the kid has come in, we've won at Wembley for first time in 2 generations, gotten promoted (another Wembley win), finished 6th in our first season and recruited a team full of exciting young players that are a match for almost any team in the division, but this apparent appointment of Beale has undone all of that good work and we are now doomed? I just don't get it - people SO quick to jump on and attack the club.
I dont know enough about the bloke but it's Speakman putting his head on the block so to speak. Most other things he has done, along with KLD, have gone well so prepared to give him some leeway on this.
I kinda want it announced now so that we can all just do what we can to get behind it. It’s clearly happening. No amount of social media uproar is going to change it (and nor should it - indeed I’d lose a lot of faith in them if they changed their mind on something like this based off fan opinion). But let’s just get it announced so that we can normalise it and get on with the season.
Yes, a lot of people have said some big things about his coaching. Almost everyone who has worked with him as a coach says them. But he's the main man here, and apart from a brief flurry at QPR has hasn't done much as a main man anywhere. And as with others, I was hearing stuff about him being out of his depth and disliked at Rangers before he was sacked. There could be a lot of reasons for that though. But he's the guy it looks like so good luck to him. At least there is no expectation management needed!
Exactly. The last thing we’d want is for the club to pull out because of social media reaction. if it’s happening let’s just get it done. Wow betide speakman it it all goes wrong though but I have a funny feeling he might be a match for our setup. One thing I really want is for Dodds to getting himself sorted as a head coach by being an assistant though and hopefully it happens under Beale.
Good post mate I was mainly reflecting on his reputation here which is not good He must be a good coach to be employed by Chelsea Liverpool Rangers and Villa in a coaching role he has a helluva squad here, let’s see what he can do on the training pitch
Try and keep an open mind everyone. One unsuccessful spell as manager doesn't necessarily mean you are useless. People make mistakes and have difficult moments in their careers and come back. The environment here might be suited to him. He might be brilliant. Being French or Scandinavian doesn't guarantee success either. Don't listen to the ****ers on that WMS podcast as I'm sure they will be spouting their usual negative crap on Monday They've been negative constantly in last 18 months but we've recruited some incredible players, we've played some amazing footy and built a team from nothing really. I find it hard to believe speakman and kld haven't done due diligence on beale..
About 20 posts back someone put a page about Beale and his coaching career. It was fairly promising. He won't have a say on transfers, we won't be buying 'his players' if he has any. He will be head coach. And if he's a good a coach as his record suggests all is well. And breathe........
Here's a thought I'll put out there, I could be miles off but maybe they brought Beale in to work with Dodds after the 2 positive results rather than Beale bringing in a number 2 like Mowbray did with Venus. With Dodds showing how technically astute he is but in the interviews he's taken part in it seems like he didn't quite fancy the top job just yet and with him and maybe Speakman didn't want to force him into something he wasn't sure about, this is the compromise
