Their owner is actively trying to sell the club and they've taken out multiple big money loans just to finance the ongoing viability of the club. They're actively trying to trim the squad and sell the large wage earners to become more financially viable, so I think they'll be looking to do the same in Jan and only minimally adding to the squad.
He didn't buy it. He agreed an incremental deal to buy 60% of it based on an investment plan and pulled the plug early when they wouldn't buy into the multiclub idea. Both parties limited their up-front risk in that particular deal. And that was by design. But yeah, the one who's buying 18 year olds, securing long-term assets, fostering relationships to provide a development structure - I believe currently with a Greek as opposed to an Irish alternative etc. You can either get the intent and direction of travel, or you can overplay a low-risk setback into some sort of sign of profligacy as befits your own preconceived bias I suppose. Your call.
It is, but you have to consider the latent quality that still exists in their squad, which has under performed due to a lack of managerial stability for one reason or another in the last 2 or 3 years.
It’s going to be an interesting window. As others have said a bit of experience won’t go amiss. Got to see another wide forward come in. Also would like to see an experienced championship midfielder come in to cover Seri. Very unlucky to lose Phili Jean but these things happen. I still see this as a squad with huge potential and with the right additions we can chase a playoff spot. I do think that we can use this season as a development of the team and have a right good crack at it next year.
Former Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has been appointed head coach of Major League Soccer club Charlotte FC.
He's done well to get that job. Mid table Turkish PL. But good luck to him. Always seemed a good bloke, just wrong time and place for us.
Haha funnily enough was just talking about him on our podcast today and suggesting a Rotherham or Huddersfield would be a good fit, clearly left off the right answer!
Docherty is still good enough for the likes of Rotherham, Huddersfield, Wednesday etc. as well as League 1 promotion-pushing teams like Derby or Posh.
