Connelly’s fall from grace has been rapid - from a first choice starter earlier in the season to sitting on the bench with young Harry getting the vote for some playing time today!
It was a fairly even game and the difference I felt was that their players were capable championship players who used their knowledge and expertise to successfully overcome a young team whose decision making was often naive.
I posted earlier in the week that without Philogene we would find goals hard to come by which was further compounded with Lokilo’s later injury. Our best eleven is arguably good enough for a top six finish but we don’t have the quality to cover absences caused by injury or the accumulation of yellow cards for key personnel like Delap, Philogene, Lokilo, Morton, Slater and whoever is playing well at left back!

We sounded like the 'Dog and Duck' today....Down to 10 men from minute one, when the star player turns up still pissed from a night out on the lash. Incredibly sloppy and giving goals away for fun..tbh we aren't good enough to sustain a top 6 push. Squad lacks depth..ie missing Slater, and with no Phliogene we haven't got much of a threat....plus no leaders....Just far too sloppy...Disappointed we lost, of course, but not surprised...End of.

Just back from my lads, was keeping an eye on the score and got a bit of commentary towards the end of the game, sounds like we played OK but mistakes cost us all 3 goals. Was never gonna be an easy game, and tbf if we'd have got a point I'd have taken it, couple of injuries and seems we are scratching around, which makes this idea of having a small squad to deal with a little naive. Chance to bounce back next Saturday, fingers crossed we'll take it.

Wasn't happy with the lineup but when we have that many injuries popping up so late on then what can you do?

We tried to play the same way we've been playing recently, but with the personnel on the pitch and out of positions etc it was a big ask.

That being said, I think if Seri doesn't suicide ball them in for their first goal then the rest of that game goes a completely different way. Under no pressure he goes and does that. Some will blame the manager for wanting us to take those risks, some will blame the individual for the colossal error...

One thing worth noting, there's a big gap between ****ing about at the back and aimlessly lumping it forward. We can play the possession game without having to draw the press to that extent. I understand why people are criticising the level of risk we're taking because we don't need to be doing it in my opinion, but it doesn't mean they want everything to be long balls up the pitch. It demonstrates how much we need that outlet up top though. In hindsight we should have started Allahyar just to give us more of an outlet.

As for Twine, I thought he had a good game overall. Seri had an absolute nightmare. Delap played well but we couldn't get it to him in good positions enough at all.

Playing out from the back is fine. Playing square passes to a player with his back to the opposition is ****ing stupid. Goalkeepers playing a short pass to a teammate directly in front of them of the edge of their box is my biggest football pet peeve. Pass to someone who has their body opened up and can see where the opposition is.

Seri is trained to spend most of the game pinging a ball backwards and sidewards. No point in using him further up the pitch and allowing him to open up defences using his natural ability. Negative tactics deserve that sort of outcome, I've no sympathy at all.

To womb it concerns: Wake up and smell the coffee!

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan told BBC Radio WM:

"We made some good pressing and scored the first goal from one of those pressings, and our second half was much better, more aggressive and showed a lot of personality to score the second goal.

[On Diangana]: "Grady is a very special player and if he finds consistency it is very positive for us.

"The important thing for me is creating chances and scoring goals but today Thomas-Asante didn't score but was excellent, one of his best games I have seen him play this season."

Hull manager Liam Rosenior told BBC Radio Humberside:

"It's always horrible, especially when you lose a game in the manner that we did. We gift-wrapped the game to them.

"For 90% of the game we were the better team but in the 10% where we switch off and make errors and don't do professional things, that's what won them the game.

"We've gone toe to toe (unlike Connolly) with a very good team, dominated certain areas but gifted goals at crucial times.

"(Seri) has made a mistake and will hold his hands up and I will hold my hands up because I'm asking the players to play that way - I believe in it.

"In fact, playing that way gets us back in the game and we took complete control, Lewie scored a fantastic goal and for a 15-minute spell in the second half we were completely on top."

Standard coaching manual, the game is one of 45 minutes each way plus injury time

While Liam Rosenior has been manager Hull City have conceded 5 goals through messing about at the back:

08/11/22 Cardiff
26/12/22 Blackpool
15/07/23 Grimsby Friendly
08/08/23 Doncaster EFL Cup
04/11/23 West Brom

Did you have a plan for how Seri gets the ball in this more advanced role?
