That's because he's one of the gang and the left backs are injured.
He's a decent right back mind, no doubt about that, but not quick enough to play international football IMO. As a left back, he regularly gets turned as he did a few times against Italy. He faces the attacker the wrong way, as most do on the wrong side, but he's not quick enough to make up for it. Cost a goal and might have cost more.
He also is one of those players who points at others, telling them what to do, while he isn't doing his own job, as with Italy's goal last week.
