Mike Dean already revealed the main issue with it, and that is the fact that the people accountable for checking are buddies with the people liable to be checked. Their default position will be to back up their mate on the pitch. It's the equivalent of sending an OFSTED inspection into a school, composed of a mixture of former and current teachers at the school. It's that simple and that dumb. Yes, there will always be human error even with the best technology at our fingertips. And yes, the fact that we have the same technology broadcast through to our living rooms means the level of scrutiny can't be put back in the box, but until the degree of impartiality is increased massively by removing anyone with a horse in the race (easily done by rotating UEFA refs across all countries who use VAR), these problems will persist.
now that’s what footballs about……. I know how you feel dude my first arrest I was 15 bitten by a dog up in Walsall
Best thrown out for me was also Maine Road. The year they beat us 5-1, when they were still and actual football club and not an oil state. We got seats in what was their North Stand, dotted round the place. First goal went in, not one noticed. Second one, people started to notice we hadn't moved. Third one, they were booting us in the back and gobbing on us. Kicked off in the concours under the stand at half time and we were thrown out, got to hear Mark Hughes scoring our one goal just after half time. Went and played pool in a Hulme pub for the afternoon, bloke had it on the radio as they got four and five. That's the only time I saw us lose at Maine Road. Well, half of it anyway. Pretty much was their only 'trophy' for the next few decades. My Mum wrote to then chief constable James Anderton about how badly I was treated!!
Remove VAR from the Spurs v Pool game and it was offside anyway according to the linesman and everyone would have been after him instead Next time try not to go down to 9 men and you might scrape a draw init
And yet on the pitch, I think English officials are among the best. Maybe they're just **** at using video screens. I'm not sure there's deliberate or organised cheating tbh maybe individual bias. In fact, thinking about it, the only competition where I can see cheating going on is the Champions League. There have been some dodgy as fck (or generally incompetent) refs over the years.
My POV to everyone else offside goal was onside and card was harsh. My POV for Sucky Nunez is **** and I'm letting Spurly change your name and avi
