It’s not the water. It’s the owners.

I don’t really have words. I like Martin and want him to succeed but the last two games have been some of the worst I’ve ever seen. Suicide

Not all the owners. Solak has done nothing but pump money into the club.

It's Ankersen trying to be clever again with managerial appointments and completely cocking it up.

After Jones, we had to go sensible. But instead we've taken a massive gamble.

So, can’t really say much that hasn’t already been said but I digress.

Number of things really.

Russell Martin first and foremost is at fault, there are things I like about the guy and I think there is a manager in there unlike his predecessor, BUT how the **** do you go from a 5 goal hiding to Sunderland and think it’s appropriate to play exactly the same style against what looks like by far and away the best team in the league. Pardon the expression but he needs to stop sniffing his own farts and learn a bit of flexibility. It’s ok having a philosophy, but you have to engage brain from time to time.

Now onto the players.

What is this shadow that has replaced Kyle Walker-Peters? Utterly disgusting performance and I have to be honest I don’t feel he has looked with it at any point in this season at all, even when we were winning. Honestly he probably needs a spell on the bench, he has been that bad.

Charles was moving out to cover KWP and leaving a void in the middle, their third particularly stuck out for this.

Also for a side that seemingly totally disregards defence, where is the attacking benefit? When we needed to defend there was no one in defence, when we were passing through the middle there was no one in midfield, when Sulemana dinked the perfect ball into Leicesters box, there was no one there to attack it.

So where were our players?

As **** as our defending was, if we had effective forwards we would have scored at least 3 today as well, there was a solid 25min period of the second half where Leicester looked dodgy as hell at the back and we did very little.

Our players need to engage their brain when passing around at the back, too much autopilot going on with our passing.

By the way if passing and possession is our be all and end all, shouldn’t we good at passing?

That all aside though the number one problem is that Martin got the set up disasterously wrong and it was an uphill climb from there.

Agree with pretty much all of this.

The biggest concern for me (bar the defence in general) is that Martin hasn't yet learned that not having a proper DM is causing us so many problems.

Positives:

- Bazunu had a decent game I thought.

- Great to have some atmosphere in the Chapel/Itchen corner. Makes a huge difference to overall atmosphere imo.

- We won't have a better team visit St Marys this season.

- I left just in time that I didn't have to suffer Aribo

I'll add Charles was very good. Edozie is getting better all the time. Daft that he came off. Alcaraz looked slightly better.

Shock horror, Winks runs the show. Such an incredible signing at this level.

In fact, a midfield of him, Ndidi and KDH is miles above anything else in this league.

I think I'd rather focus on how good he was, rather than how horrific our defending was. The honeymoon is very much over Martin. He now needs to sort it and fast (starting by never playing Charles at CB rather than CM, and actually asking his FBs to play at FB). My concern is that he won't be able to, but time will tell.

I thought we were fairly decent in their half. But it came nowhere near to compensating.

I don’t see it. I just don’t see this manager being able to change. I honestly loved what I saw at first, but there is no discipline and there is no logic to the system we play. Yes our team is better than most- but that only shows how poorly we played to start the season as we scraped every win.

Hindsight is a terrifying thing.
This ^^ 100%

There is a real rot & malaise around this club.

Good players come here and turn into ****e ones. Baffling tactics, baffling decisions, no logic. Painful. Painful for 3+ years now.

Yeah, I don't see bad players per se in that team (though I fear RM has a love-in with Adarma, who tries hard, but is still not a good footballer). We still have players that don't seem terribly interested, and they need to pull their socks up, but tactically that was a real disasterclass today.

Yeah good shout on Edozie, was baffled he came off. Presumed he might have got a knock.

I do like Charles but he's not a CB imo and puts us in too much trouble in that position.

agree totally. Runs the show in midfield. Get him back there immediately

Charles is a very good footballer. As is THB, but putting them together as a CB partnership, when one is not a CB and they're both 12, whilst also playing our full backs in really, really odd positions....well...you end up with results like today.
