So, can’t really say much that hasn’t already been said but I digress.
Number of things really.
Russell Martin first and foremost is at fault, there are things I like about the guy and I think there is a manager in there unlike his predecessor, BUT how the **** do you go from a 5 goal hiding to Sunderland and think it’s appropriate to play exactly the same style against what looks like by far and away the best team in the league. Pardon the expression but he needs to stop sniffing his own farts and learn a bit of flexibility. It’s ok having a philosophy, but you have to engage brain from time to time.
Now onto the players.
What is this shadow that has replaced Kyle Walker-Peters? Utterly disgusting performance and I have to be honest I don’t feel he has looked with it at any point in this season at all, even when we were winning. Honestly he probably needs a spell on the bench, he has been that bad.
Charles was moving out to cover KWP and leaving a void in the middle, their third particularly stuck out for this.
Also for a side that seemingly totally disregards defence, where is the attacking benefit? When we needed to defend there was no one in defence, when we were passing through the middle there was no one in midfield, when Sulemana dinked the perfect ball into Leicesters box, there was no one there to attack it.
So where were our players?
As **** as our defending was, if we had effective forwards we would have scored at least 3 today as well, there was a solid 25min period of the second half where Leicester looked dodgy as hell at the back and we did very little.
Our players need to engage their brain when passing around at the back, too much autopilot going on with our passing.
By the way if passing and possession is our be all and end all, shouldn’t we good at passing?
That all aside though the number one problem is that Martin got the set up disasterously wrong and it was an uphill climb from there.
