Does anyone know much about Leverkusen’s side currently? Is Tella likely to be a starter or a sub mainly?

They're okay. The city is a bit of a ****hole though.

The Bundesliga is basically like the Championship, but with three good Premier League sides thrown in - Bayern, Leipzig and Dortmund. Leverkeusen are like a lower level PL/high end Championship club. He'll do fine there.

As a footnote to that, Dortmund had an excellent opportunity to end it last season and blew in typical Dortmund style!! With Bayern I just hope Kane does well and helps deliver the Champions League for them.

It was so close, they really did mess it all up when it was totally in their hands.

Now Bayern have Kane I think that will be any competition over for another three years at least.

Plus Dortmund no longer have Bellingham. Gulf will be huge again this season.

All we can compare with at the moment is Leicester and Leeds.

Leicester have so far paid for 4 players. Coady, Winks, Hermansen and Mvididi. Total spend around £30 million.
They have got money for 2 players Barnes and Maddison for around £79 million, and have to let others leave on a free or released like, Perez, Soyunco, Tielemens, Armartey, Bertrand, Mendy, Tete and Evans.

Leeds have spent around £20 million on Piroe and Ampadu plus Darlow and Byram for nothing.
Got money for Adams, Rodrigo and Roberts for around £28 million.
They have loaned players like Wober, Harrison, Koch, Aaronsen, Roca and Kristensen.

Whereas we still got money for the likes of Diallo and Orsic.

Has our transfer business been that bad, really?

In the Leicester pro column, they also loaned in Casadei. And in the cons, they are finally being forced to play Vestergaard at his level.

It's a shame they're from different eras because a defence centred around Artur Boruc and Lyanco would be ****ing incredibl(y terrifying).

Not sure Glasgow city police would fancy an Old Firm derby with those two involved. <laugh>

The prospect of Lyanco playing Champions League football should be more terrifying (if you're a Celtic fan).

I think Leverkusen are slightly better than that, and I think you're describing the Scottish PL more closely than the Bundesliga. Leverkusen beat Bayern and Leipzig last season, whilst being in the CL, and also made the semis of Europa League. You're not going to get Bournemouth, Palace etc. doing that, even had they qualified. Florian Wirtz would not be in a bottom half PL team.

Tella has a more than decent chance of getting Champions League football at some point in his time there, especially if its the Bundesliga who end up getting a fifth CL place next season. And he'll play Europa this season. Am assuming at £20m he's being signed at least to compete for a starting place.

I wonder if we will look at Grady Diangana as Tella’s replacement. West Brom seem a bit strapped for cash atm so might be available for a reasonable fee.
