So, after my initial push for Gyokeres early on I advocated the signing of Piroe as the next target. This is why....

Piroe instantly becomes the best finisher at the club. With the chances he had last season he was expected to hit 20 goals. He got 19. It's not great but when we look at Bamford who scored 4 goals but was expected to score 9 with his chances it's clear to see that we've just had a massive upgrade.

His link up play is very good. Quite happy to drop deep to get the ball. He's deceptively big and strong and can hold the ball up. He has a decent touch and can turn defenders. He is equally adept at spinning in behind the defence even though he isn't that speedy. He's a bit of an all rounder who can also play out wide and deeper if needed. This dropping deep is key to how he could fit in here. Even if he doesn't go on and hit his 20 goals a season he will provide that focal point where the inverted wingers like James, Poveda, Gnonto but particularly Summerville and Sinisterra can run in behind him. They should benefit massively.

The next issue we have with Piroe is a serious one. We desperately need a playmaker (Pablo type) who can play that key pass. Last week vs West Brom Rutter made loads of very good runs but nobody found him. Piroe will have the same issue. It won't be because he's ****, it will be because we won't supply him. It needs resolving.

I don't know this German fella we are chasing but he is supposed to be our next Pablo. If he is, and we get him, expect Piroe to score 20+ goals for us. The next massive deal for us is getting to the end of the Saudi window with Sinisterra still being here. He is an assist king and is easily the best player in the Championship if we retain his services.

Things are looking up but there is still a few additions to come to really cement us as promotion favourites.

He can take free kicks and penalties which is something we have lacked.

I think Amiri was a teenage protege expected to do great things who never quite lived up to it but still managed to get regular game time in top European leagues.

Maybe he just looks good value as a lad in his prime with contract running down. Nothing wrong with that for where we’re currently at…

There have been occasions on here when someone has posted that we're due to give someone a thrashing. It hasn't happened.:emoticon-0101-sadsm

For the first time in a very looooooong time I'm now getting genuinely buzzed that soon we really are gonna rip someone a new one and score a ****ing hat full<party>

I said that for most of last season. <doh>

Isn't it funny the difference a day makes? Ben is going tomorrow and has played it down all week fearing the worst. Confirmation that Sinisterra is back in the squad and the signing of Piroe leads him to believe we are probably looking at a 4-1 win tomorrow <laugh>
Hopefully Hercule will start and start as he means to go on.

Back to Eire tonight. Must admit until yesterdays happenings the thoughts of footie this season wasn’t exciting me but don’t feel as bad heading home now. We’re making progress
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks

The juice of a carrot, the smile of a parrot
A little drop of claret, anything that rocks

Health service glasses, gigolos and brasses
Round or skinny bottoms

Cheddar cheese and pickle, a Vincent motorsickle
Slap and tickle

Saying okey-dokey, sing-a-long a Smokie
Coming out of chokie

Reasons to be cheerful, part three

No new signings today so here is the latest news from Spain.

Went for tapas last night. I don't know how they know but the Spanish always just instinctively know my wife is German and automatically give her German menus. She even shaves her armpits! Anyway, the girl said to my missus that the best thing on the menu was the Angus burger. Sounded interesting so we ordered 3 Angus burgers. It came in a huge toasted sesame seed bun, mayonnaise, gherkins, 2 x burger patties about half inch thick with stringy cheese in-between, onions, fried egg, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato and more mayonnaise. Served with skin on huge potato wedges. It was delicious. Sat in a little square with a nice breeze and a couple of freezing cold beers to finish. Waitress spoke German to the missus and Spanish to me so I've no idea what she said. Mi Espanyol no es bueno.

Up this morning, no run, some toast with honey followed up with a slice of Tortilla de patatas. Loads of coffee, fresh orange juice.

On the beach early doors, watching the boy play in the waves whilst I just paddled on the shore line. Got a couple of bottles of water and sat in the sun poolside afterwards.

Just had dinner. Fresh tuna steaks with garlic potatoes, red cabbage with white raisins and some kind of bean stew which was really nice. A little glass of Sangria which is massively overrated imo.

Back to me sunbed. Brolly up cos it's 35C today and not very breezy. Otherwise all is quiet in Spain. Just chillin out in the shade. Might do some bird watching later. Will be home soon enough.

Hope everything is good back in Blighty. Hope the weather is good and it's not too miserable.

Regards,

Stay away from sangria mate, rubbish stuff even the spanish don't drink it.
Try instead tinto de verano, red wine, ice and gaseosa( a non sweet type of lemonade).
Very refreshing on a hot afternoon, most places even serve it by the pint.
As for the 'bird watching' I can imagine, a great variety of the tit family whilst keeping your eye out for the lesser spotted thong.
Enjoy.

Most refreshing drink I've ever had in hot weather is a Mackeson Stout, 50/50 with lemonade.
