    Tell you what mate.
Even at 17/18 year old there’s no way I’d have been wearing an agent trying to run my life and engineering a move every year.
    **** that.

Not everyone has your strength of character mate, unfortunately. A lot of these players have had everything done for them since they were very young. Half of them don't know how to do anything basic, like when to get their car serviced or how to insure their property. Picking the bones out of a contract I can understand.... most of us would need sound advice and guidance.....,but,the Svengali hold some of the players have got themselves into is crazy. As someone else said,it's an odds on bet a lot of them move clubs, not because they want to,but because they're persuaded it's best.

Think it was Keane said a lot of the man utd players that came through the youth team used agents linked with the PFA and he said he could deal with them all day as they were only interested in the players welfare

You might be right mate, upbringing I suppose. I was taught to stand on my own two feet early on.
I’m 58 now and my two sons are men and I’ve brought them up the same.
Independent and whilst being prepared to listen ultimately make their own mind up on their futures.

    How can Stoke afford £40-£60k?
Surely FFP must limit what they can spend.
Apart from the 3 teams coming down (who must have huge wage bills) I would have thought we would have the highest income with our attendances and regular tv appearances.

It would be interesting to see a table of the income and outgoings for the Championship so we could see where we stand.
Is it from player sales (Coventry/Gyokeres) that other teams get more to spend because this would probably not be a regular income.

I'm sure there are agents like that...but there are those who aren't. Maybe the education for the Man U youths was better?

Stoke sold Souttar to Leicester in January for 20mill I think it was. Every club who is spending money has made a big sale in the last 6 months and until we do that I can’t see us competing for the higher priced signings.

It's a catch 22 position. You want to keep your best player but to progress you sometimes need that one big transfer to allow the club to bring in 2 or 3 quality additions.

Don't know all the details but Stoke's owner converted loads of loan to a gift, or something like that, which makes the books look like they generated more money than they do. An open bending of the rules which will probaby be closed soon but too late to affect Stoke.

More like 530k take home if they actually pay their taxes, they’ll have excellent accountants to minimise the tax paid I’m sure. That’s also not including any sponsorship deals.

Cheers that is a useful yardstick.

If say we had 20 players on that, it would be in the region of £20m per year.

If we had 40,000 crowds for 20 games say £20 entrance that is £16m?

£4m shortfall, just on basic figures. If £20k is the top of the range, some will be on a lot less.

Which is loads for the average person. Yet they bleat on and down tools when they earn more then the average person in a month sometimes week than most earn in a year. It’s stinks football. Sky and agents

We aren’t offering players £20k a week. If we were we’d have a queue lining up to sign. Wouldn’t be surprised if Ballard is now on close to that but he’ll be the only one bar Clarke being somewhere between £15-20k, but there’s certainly not 20 squad players on that so we have plenty of wiggle room. The clubs revenue could support close to that without even selling anyone, I just don’t think they will.

Ross Stewart was shopping for a house identical to one that I was looking at buying on the same estate a while back, I’m sure he ended up buying it and I by no means earn what I consider to be a lot - certainly not footballer money, maybe league two. He’s not on life changing money and he’s got a few good years left in him, nobody can begrudge him wanting to get the best contract.

Can’t remember who mentioned it now but Stoke aren’t paying Gayle £40-60k a week either, the mags are hugely subsiding his wage.

Hadn’t seen Stoke linked, they’ve already signed a couple of strikers haven’t they? Could be another case of red and white stripes mistaken identity, press still seem to confuse us with Stoke and Southampton quite often.
