#6 doesn't have to be a giant to be effective. The best do seem to pick up a lot of cards Hopefully not too many red though.

There's always a risk with 19year olds (whether its Lavia,.or Bellingham)... At 22, Andre has passed a lot of the developmental risk stage. Now, I don't know how good he is, if he's as good as Lavia... But in general, less risk with a 22y/o than a 19y/o and still lots of life left in their career.

different league, different risk

lower fee, lower risk

I’d love to know how players are actually selected for purchase. Stats, scouting reports, managers preference obviously but more about the investment criteria, Return of capital invested, DCF modelling etc etc…..it must happen.

klopp has let it be known he is worried about Saudis waiting til the window is shut and tapping up players like salah then

their transfer deadline is 20th September so we could be in for a very very bumpy ride if players like salah choose to be low lifes

we’ve had misalignment with European leagues in the past. The difference is the money…..so why would they wait for our league to close? They’d have a better chance of getting their targets if the club have time to recruit a replacement.

Saudis are really messing up the Premier League. Multiple direct ( Newcastle) and indirect (Chelsea) involvement via Investment company, offloading players to Saudi from said clubs to make a mockery of FFP and they have the ability to destabilise their rivals by tapping up their players. This won’t end well and Premier League do nothing to stop it

not his fault though, is it. We sold him with a year of his contract left, hence his value was reduced. Our negotiators probably never contemplated a sell on clause.
There was no sell on clause but there was £7.5m in add ons that presumably were achievable that we have now lost out on.

This Saudi involvement/interference is going to change the way contracts will be drawn up.

Putting aside the politics, ultimately it’s more money into football. My only concern is their ability to disrupt a team in favour of one they have ownership in.

Their increasing involvement could mean the end of football as we know it. Look at the takeover of golf.

Maybe there’ll be a power shift but football is not golf, it won’t be as easy unless Arab teams get entry to CL football or, more likely, the Arab owned teams across Europe form their own break away league, together with Barca, Madrid etc who still want that. Something is brewing…..
