I spent the week listening to a couple of beached whales(one Aberdonian and one Southener)wading around the shallow end of the pool discussing the finer points on how to increase their 'PIP' payments...

Needless to say when I departed from my sunbed slumber to shower for the airport last Thursday I bid them farewell and threw in a "oh well, back to work on Sunday for some of us"...Oh how they chuckled:emoticon-0119-puke:

I've spent a lot of time with Germans, both through work and leisure time and always found them great company - they took work very seriously but were great company in the pub later; I used to go to IoM TT and have done Black Forest M/bike tours and met loads of them there too, always good lads. I think we have more in common with the Germans than any other race of people - the French, pig ignorant ****s that they are can **** right off!

A French family in a Chicago hotel lift. Germans on a Bremen camp site...Spanish in a London hotel...I hate foreigners.
Actually, no that's not strictly correct, but at the time I did.

There’s some Austrian tunnel builders working on Castle Street staying in the flats I work in, nice fellas considering they spend all day underground. Funny how Austrians are considered some of the Worlds best tunnellers, must be all those bunkers they built during WW2.

Just returned from a Norwegian cruise on MSC Virtuosa.
It was our first time cruising and overall, a little disappointed.
The ship was magnificent and very clean. Waking up to a different view while cruising down a fjord was an amazing experience. I was getting up at first light, and going on deck to take it all in. Unless you’ve actually been in the fjords you probably don’t realise some of the destinations are 100 miles inland). One examples is Flaam, which is beautiful. It has a population of 350. And yet Hull seems to be finding technical problems in accommodating cruise ships.
The worst part was that the ship was just too busy, with 6000 people. The first couple of nights felt really chaotic. Things did calm down, but service was often slow and there were just not enough seats. A couple of nights, we visited every bar on the ship and couldn’t find anywhere to sit down, so actually ended up back in our cabin. It seems the ship is designed for warmer climes, where everyone can spread out onto the bars on the deck.
Surrounded by so many people, I learnt what the phrase ‘being entitled’ actually means. I just think we have become so selfish. Some people are incredibly rude and we witnessed several examples of awful behaviour towards staff. The service was sometimes not great, but it was pretty clear that it was more a lack of staff rather than individuals.
We’ve come to the conclusion that cruising is probably not for us.

    That’s a shame
As you say cruising might be better in warmer weather when the outside seating can take up more slack.
Fjords are amazing (although I’ve not been that far inland tbh)

That’s the normal arrangement but we go on holiday with Angela Rippon & Diana Rigg and they fancied different places.

The wives often get a mention Chazz, so I envisage them more like the grandparents in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory than Eric and Ernie to be honest.
