He can come back for all myself and going off his words, Exile, cares.

You guys can set the precedent for the board right here and now.

If he's not going to be banned for calling people 'child molesters' then you have to accept that people won't be banned, no matter who they are, if they decide to start using offensive and insulting words that a lot of you have been outraged with previously.

That's my last comment on it.

I don’t see any reason to ban him. It’s not nice what he said and should’ve been edited out (or deleted as it was and that should’ve been the end of it *when a comment is deleted you put in a reason and can make the poster aware, that’s how I’d have done it) but certainly not a ban
Cheers marra, I'm sure Smug will appreciate your comments.

Ask Brb to bring him back.

If people decide to start calling folk nonces, mongs, spackers or whatever. You'll lose the right to ban them because it will happen and the same rules apply to all posters.

I honestly dont care which way this goes.

Absolutely nuts that he has been banned for criticising people who support a misogynistic compulsive liar.

Correction - people who he has decided support, because they don't agree with him. And if he's worked himself into such a frenzy based on something that isn't true that he's using language like that, then maybe a few days to cool down might be a good thing.

There's a line and I'd argue that it was crossed if that was indeed the phrase used. Otherwise we're not far away from becoming the politics forum over the road.

Smug made a comment about posters on the boris thread yesterday just after 6pm. I replied to his post advising in my eyes it was a tad OTT and we could edit out the poor taste comments. One of the said posters liked my suggestion and a few minutes later Smug got barred for a week. Seems a bit harsh in my eyes that one of our main contributors is dealt with in such a draconian oppressive, if not vindictive, way?

I'd like to sign this petition to the Mods, reinstate Smug asp.

Does anyone else agree?
I definitely do I was waiting for a PM off him for a favour I'd asked, get him back on

We have all been guilty of that over time. I held my hands up and apologised. But how many times has the word “NONCE” been used as a Boro slur? With no repercussions? I don’t think it deserves a ban, I do think it needed taking off

Fair enough. You might feel different if someone directly called YOU a child molester.

Bring him back for all I care. I was going to leave it because it had been dealt with but if it’s not then I’ll be having my say and it’s going to get messy. Probably for a long time too. I won’t be getting banned no matter how dark I go. These will be the board rules now. Same for everyone.

Marcus has already said, clearly, that calling others child molesters etc. is NOT acceptable on here, the post should have been edited or removed, and the poster informed/reminded about standards. That does NOT mean that it is acceptable from now on, 'cos it's not, as clearly stated.

As you say (have just said), you're immune from banning, but we'd appreciate you not trying to destroy our largely peaceful and very friendly board :emoticon-0148-yes:

I’m not immune from being banned. I was banned several months ago.

**** off Gordon. Your mate started this, no matter how you dress it up.

When I was a kid, probably the same as most of you, I was told " Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me".
I know in this woke society we live in, the above is no longer acceptable, and I accept that for some, names can hurt, but if you're really that sensitive, is this the kind of debate you want to be involved in? Or maybe it is the right place to be if you're looking to be offended?
I'm not easily offended and so generally prefer not to get involved in the political side of the forum, I have never put anyone on ignore but over the years I have read much more offensive stuff on this forum, often just describing someone who happens to 'support' another club.

What’s the point of banning some one for a week
Got him back on

I have no idea what he said but he’s a top poster and from what I’ve heard tickets etc a really good bloke. Definitely speaks his mind and if he was OTT should be reminded of that but a weeks ban seems strange especially at this crucial point in the season. His contributions wherever you agree or not are a big part of this board being selfish I’ll miss that today.

There are some things he may say I don't agree with but I don't comment that's his opinion, however the other 90% of his opinions are spot on with mine and always puts it across a lot better than I would. This board will not be the same without him and especially what could be the lead up to wembley, a warning and the comment removed would have been acceptable, also if he's been warned and the comment removed should not give anyone the right to insult people with whatever comments they want because Smug gets his ban changed, especially not the people running the board, there's something wrong if your looking for an excuse to call someone a nonce or monge or any other insult they seen to want to use

Has been done mate. A number of times. It’s one if those things that happens growing up when you’re my age. And it’s water off a ducks back. And, from what I’ve found, it was loosely inferred rather than directly calling. If it gets messy, then that’s up to you, but you’ll lose all respect I have fir you as a person at that point.

it’s not worthy of a banning on any board. It is worth if a slap on the wrists which is how it should’ve been managed.
