damn right. Which is what makes us so dangerous our players will fear nothing. This feels like a bonus shot to nothing we weren’t expecting. previous play off campaigns have felt like life or death. This one doesn’t. It feels like something amazing can happen and if it doesn’t things are still brilliant. How ****ing dangerous is a team like ours with that mentality behind them?
Nail on the head there mate. Luton failed last year and are desperate to go up. If they don't they're stuck in a tiny shytehole of a ground in the back streets of Luton. The place needs multi-millions spending on it just to meet PL regulations. Even then PL clubs will only receive a tiny allocation and have to arrive at a ground without decent parking, facilities or sanitation. I'd laugh if they were denied promotion after winning the playoffs.
No team unbeatable I'd say. The playoffs are a lottery. They were a lottery when we were in them finishing third, they are a lottery when we have finished sixth. We are playing well, and have nothing whatever to lose. The ultimate free hit, whereas last season didn't feel like that at all.
Don't think they are unbeatable but it's going to be tough we have 1 win from 6 games against these 3 teams and have lost to 2 of them. Luton are on a great run, but so are we. Having said that, we keep finding ways to win and none of the other teams will fancy playing us. I have absolutely zero nerves - lets see what we can do on Sat and take it from there. I would absolutely LOVE another day out at Wembley
The freeist (if that’s a word) of free hits for me, would love us to go all the way but if we don’t we’re on the right path, if certain players can’t see that and or don’t want to be part of it then more fool them but wish them no ill will
Also, in recent years (2019 & 2021 specifically) we have gone into the POs in rotten form Last 5 games before play offs: 2019 - LLDDW - Lost in the final 2021 - DWLDD - Lost in the semis 2022 - WDWDW - won the ****ing thing 2023 - WDWDW - ??? Spot the difference?
Any teams got some financial irregularities on the go? Still hold fond memories of Swindon’s generosity in the playoffs a long time ago. Wasn’t Hoddle their manager at the time?
Great thread BTW!! FWIW, I actually think we will beat Luton at the SOL, then do enough down there. I also think The Cheats will beat the SMOGGIES, to set up a final against The Cheats!! We’re on our way I tell ya!! Bart
We have nothing to fear from any other team in the play offs. We're better than all of them even with the injuries. Haway the fkn Lads
Luton's ground isn't fit for the PL but that's irrelevant to us now ... ... we'd have to hope Coventry are pulled up for something.
talking to a mag neighbour and he said how can that be right that luton finished 11 points above us and play us in the semi final. I just thought Newcastle could finish more than 11 points behind Arsenal and Man City and qualify for the champions league the same as them. The fact your not champions and qualify for the champions league doesnt sound right. Its all about the money.
I reckon it's just the fact a lot of us are scarred by past events. Recently we seem to have put things like that behind us tho.
i honestly have not talked about it with anyone, my view is that if we do go up i will be one very happy chappy but i will still be a very happy chappy if we do not. these lads have worked wonders this season ( and i include backroom staff and managerial) and after all the problems if nothing else they damn well deserve a shot at it...this is the 'short season'.
