Having slept on it, I can see how the changes could have affected the game positively for us.

Switching to 3 at the back with Cirkin and Gooch as wing backs, Clarke and Amad as wingers COULD have put them on the back foot and COULD have been seen as an attempt to get us higher up the pitch.

As we are all aware the subs didn't make the impact we all hoped.

All in all disappointing but this season was always going to have ups and downs, bring on Hull and the chance to bounce back

Patto is awful for that goal mind. He's in no man's land, doesn't come to collect the ball, doesn't stay on his line and his positioning in the goal looks all wrong too, he should have been closer to his front post as the ball comes in, making the striker head it across him.
Correct, poor from the keeper

He has been caught out with a couple of short passes to feet that's put is in the ****e. Last week immediately comes to mind when he passed it straight to their player.

I like Patto. But he needs to improve distribution and being fully committed to claiming a ball.

Their goal yday was like the QPR keeper goal. He come, panicked then retreated. By then it was to late and it was goal.
I agree about last week too, but I don’t see that as a “short pass” issue, more a “calculate the risks” should’ve put his foot through it.

Hiscshort passing is pretty good really. Just still learning. Agree about the claiming a ball. Not many keepers at his age are anywhere near the finished article. He’s doing well but got a lot to learn still.

Seems this season though only ups are on the road and only downs are at home. Our home form and points wasted is an absolute disgrace. Totally bottle it at home. Needs addressing and very quickly. Just when we get ourselves into a good position we flap and end up back in a 50/50 and it simply isn't good enough. The squad is good enough to be play offs 100% however there is something holding us back especially at home and it just doesn't make sense.

Surprised Matete hasn't been getting a look in tbh. Ok hes not the best on the ball but at least he has the energy and ratting to compete in there. I find it really poor from the management that he's just been ****ed off out of the squad all together tbh. Especially when it's energy and putting your foot in is what we're crying out for. Dajaku on the bench man ffs.

Absolutely. A real interesting one that. Clearly has some ability and shown glimpses. Paid a canny wedge for him too.

Should definitely be in the bench and would have helped yday.

We have had some decent performances at home, but I agree we seem better on the road.

Still confident it will sort itself out in the end and we will see our home form improve

I know this is the match thread but it ties into options that can change games and this isn't me being sarcastic or moaning or having a go, but I hope the club have been (they will have) beening looking at other striker options in January other than Simms. The new modle, rightly or wrongly is one that now protects assets. Its happing now with both a player that is and has been fit for a good while, and the club its self. So close to the January window and the risk of an injury that could scupper a deal is too great. The days of the likes of Maja, and Bent playing right up until they leave are over.

I hope so. I wasn't sure about Mowbray when he came and I am still not convinced by him, tactically out of his depth imo.

I know majority just needed survival this season but we are better than just survival I honestly believe we are good enough to be play off if the consistency improves.

Agree mate...if LND does go in January, and I'm not convinced he will,we will have replacement lined up,I'm sure of that.
My main worry at the minute however,is the lack of consistency in our performances. We seem to be able to go for 45 mins, either side of half time, why can't the players.....ok with subs..... go at the same level and tempo for 90 mins.
****ing vexing me.

Too many key players can't do a full 90, Gooch, Evans, Pritch and Simms spring to mind, our midfield is weak, and poor game management from TM does not help, cant think of anything else at the moment. <laugh>

I've never seen us play so many times a game of 2 halves. Other games we can be consistent, them others go last night. As for the player in question, he's away mate. Simms is part of it.

Ok,assuming the deal is good for us as well as Ross.....we can't be looking at the second half of the season with just Ellis?

Possibly poor from Patto but Cirkin was brought on to stifle their right wing threat, he should have stopped the cross not just put his hand up hoping the ball is ruled out of play!

TBF Cirkin made a load of tackles and interceptions when on the pitch and in this incident the ball and player was always running away from him. Not making excuses but didn't seem to get dusted and seemed to be on Wallace much more than Alese.

Surprised Alese is getting a start at full back ahead of Cirkin like. Strange one.

I find it odd that Cirkin is not getting a start, this lad would walk into many Premier League side never mind any Championship club

He has started loads for is and hardly ever let us down. I think TM likes Alese physcial presence but we lose a lot of dynamic forward play when Cirkin is not playing. For many games, out left side of Cirkin and Clarke has won us games. Strange how both of them have been shifted to the bench.

cheers again RTB...

no idea why but i felt last night was going to be a slog and really apart from the first 25 or so minutes we were rightly up against it.

maybe if pritchard's shot goes in we might have seen a different game but that was a brilliant save, the crosses from the right were going to be a problem and we did snuff them out to be fair but then lapsed back into leaving space again for him.

sorry if this offends anyone as i know he has plenty of supporters out there but dan neil really needs to get stuck in or get him dropped, he has had loads of chances that he just blatantly plods through doing the least he can, embo has also seemed to have lost the plot as whenever both of them start a game we honestly struggle...both need some time out.

alese seems like he is thrown in and spends the game trying to guess where he needs to be, bring cirkin back asap, let evans do his job with a better/more involved lad with him and hopefully get LND back in the side.

don't want to throw blame on anyones shoulders here but we need our strongest team out there, too many games are lost/won to a single goal we need the lads out there to push for a second and even a third goal then bring on the youngsters to see it out.
