I mack me arn Wines I like red, merlot or shiraz mainly. I make Beaverdale, 30 bottles for around £45. I find it suits my palate tremendously I make a cheaper red magnum, £20 for 30 bottles, its better than a lot of cheap vinegar shop bought. Also a pinot grigio, same price. Mainly for summer chilled, not a big fan of white. Some Coopers lager/cerveza's About £13 for 40 pints. I got onto mangrove jack's juicy session IPA £25 for 40 pints, and as someone mentioned in the thread "what the hell is fruity beers all about"? Well let me tell you Now all these craft beers are bearded old farts, body warmers and sandal wearing geeks tipples But by fook is that juicy IPA nice I've made a few stouts too, coopers irish and Wilko's craft chocolate stout. Wines i used to buy, wolfblass, yellowtail, 19 crimes, mudhouse, aldi and lidl stuff. Beers. Kronenbourg, stella, san Miguel , sol. Lidl aldi stuff. Shorts I'll drink. Vodka and coke. Bourbon and coke. Woods 100 rum and black. Port and brandy. Gin is a split arses drink
Ohh I forgot 90s and 0s I brewed my own Bitter and it was very nice can’t be bothered now Got rid of all my gear
I managed to drink a bottle and a half of white horse with out any effect, something told me to stop drinking completely, so I did.
Very strange that, I lived with a lad from Newcastle and he told me one morning I was pissing in the wardrobe and he asked me what I was doing and I said pissing on a cottage pie. Couldn’t remember any of it. Strange, because that was brown ale as well
Ozzy, have you heard of a winery over there in SA called Mr Riggs Wine Company? Someone from the Riggs family messaged me a few years ago as we are related through DNA. The lady who messaged me told me about our common ancestor, John “The Gaffer" Riggs who started farming in SA when he arrived in the mid 1800’s. The Mr Riggs Wine Company was started up in 2001 by his 2x Great Grandson, they produced a Shiraz a couple of years ago called “The Gaffer” in memory of John Riggs and I have been trying to get hold of a bottle for ages but it looks like it’s only available in Australia.
This is what we were drinking last night, with fillet steak and accompaniments, which is good preparation for when I donate blood this afternoon . . . . my iron levels will be enhanced (probably)
I like the 19 crimes wines. They’re all good from my experience. Unfortunately I can’t give blood otherwise I would
Bloody good thread this. Hats off to the OP. Beer - Currently sat with an Old Speckled Hen, my favourite. Wine - New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc Spirits - London Dry Gin Always wanted to like Whiskey, but I don’t. Gives me the ****s. You’re welcome.
Try Whisky mate, it's much nicer I never liked it either, couldnt stand the stuff tbh, until I tried something decent. Even something like an Aberlour 12, a single malt readily available in the supermarket (last one I bought was £28 from either morrisons or tesco) is a world away from blended stuff like Bells etc. Love a few neat drams now.
Might I suggest that IF you ever feel the need to try something else in the Blended Whisky line, you give Black Bottle a try. It comes from a blend of Islay malts and like Famous Grouse it's base is Bunnaharbhain.
Some connoisseurs on here mind, though most of it too strong for me! I do like a lot of the ales that are available now though. Some fantastic stuff, The best I tasted was one of the Summer Wine beers. Think they are closed now, but they made some taste bud tingling beer for a good stretch. Plenty else to be trying out though!
Can’t say that any beer is a main consideration in my life. It is the reason I get up in the afternoon though.
I'm not a connoisseur of beer or wine just a bit of a piss pot at times I guess. Only time I drink wine is when I'm out for a meal with Mrs and she can't finish hers off. I don't touch lager. Spirits sometimes mainly Vodka As for beers at home it's Mcewans Export, American Pale from Aldi or any bottled strong ales from Asda. When I'm out its John Smiths if nowt else on offer. Or if in Spoons I'll try any real ale. Bit of a scratter I guess!! O
