That’s **** though. No buy option for Villarreal more or less guarantees he’ll be back here because big dogs aside, no European teams spend big in January (and no one from the Prem is gonna touch him) so the clause is pretty useless unless we sell for about £5m in January.
A buy option for Villareal makes exactly no difference to his likelihood of leaving unless it is so cheap that it would be absurd for us to give it to them. Options are valuable and we should only write them in return for higher up front payments.
It seems that Ndombele has also found a new home... Its reckoned that it's a €3m loan fee with an obligation @ €13m, if they qualify for the CL next season. Just getting him off the wage bill will be a result, if he makes it a permanent move.
Low fee but shows how desperate they are to get rid. As long as his wages are off the bill then I’m not arsed about anything else. Chalk it up to a bad experience and move on
There's been the suggestion that the £150m bond is as much for taking a hit on Ndombele and Lo Celso as it is signing new players ...although at this point, a minimum of 80% of that sentiment is for the fomer
Footy BSider claim that Msrcel Lavinier is refusing to sign a new contract, so Paratici's told him to do one Considering that Lavinier has a year on his contract, and would need a squad place this season, I'm not surprised that Paratici is showing no mercy
Turned on the telly to see how many goals United scored today. Imagine my shock!? Time to change the manager? Ohhh....dear!
Over 21 player now so would’ve needed to be registered if there were any intention to play him in the first team - which realistically there wasn’t considering our number of senior RWBs plus Lucas.
Cheers In fairness, can't blame him for not signing a new contract cos he's got next to no chance of breaking into the first team anytime soon
Yeah I don’t either. I think we’ll see one or two more follow suit over the season too, hard to see Lyons-Foster, Fagan-Walcott and Bowden getting the breakthroughs they’d want. Decent young players but not ones I feel the club sees genuine futures here for like they do with Scarlett, Parrott and Devine.
Signing Spence basically ended any chance of Lavinier making it at Spurs. Probably a championship level player at best imo so no massive loss. Just need to hope Spence is worth the money.
If Tanganga and Winks leave we only have 3 club trained players, so Lavinier would be a free option on the 4th one
As I said the other day, I suspect the transfer/wage bills for GLC + NDombele may be fully amortised at the end of this season. In which case I would be quite happy for G:C to play well, and then Levy spite sell him to another club in January for a lowish fee to teach Villarreal a lesson.
Romano’s said Udogie will land around 8pm tonight for his medical and then we’ll finalise the deal within a couple days.
