Hence why I asked a question about it. Weird thing to do I know. However, there are different types of loan to buy: optional, mandatory and probably more.
The ball is definitely in our court, it's up to us to complete the deal or not ( depending on performance etc ) and not Chelsea. Terms with Baxter will already be agreed in principle
They may agree terms beforehand? There are deals where the loaning club are compelled to purchase after the loan agreement expires for an agreed fee.
They will have agreed the terms beforehand. Have you got an example of a loaning club compelled to purchase? I'm not saying it would never happen but I dont see the point. Why not just buy to begin with? The player terms would have to be agreed as well otherwise the deal could be scuppered by offering the player £1 per year.
someone will correct me but i think we loaned Henriksen with purchase 6 months later - not sure that was an option but part of initial deal
I dont think you understand what an obligation means You still haven't produced an example even though you claimed they happen
Obligations just mean that at the end of the loan spell you have to buy the player. They're used more abroad and are usually done for accounting/FFP purposes. But they are to all intensive purposes, permanent signings as you can't get out of them. We usually see loans over here have obligatory purchase clauses when an event happens e.g. promotion.
Interesting on Traore... "Everyone needs to patient with Adama, he's very talented but he needs to adapt to our league in terms of intensity - He needs to get back in shape"
I thought the same too but if we're trying to bring in Wright as our main no.9 as Kesler said, I cant see how you bring in Muriqi too.. Unless Shota is going to change formation this season and play with 2 up top?
Erm.. Leeds signed Jean Kevin Augustin on loan the year they went up. If they got promoted, his £20m purchase option turned into an obligatory one. Maybe not the best example as the case is going to CAS after Leeds refused to pay, stating COVID as the excuse as he didn't finish the season with them (if you remember, you had to extend loans and contracts so they could play). Basically they didn't extend the loan and said that because he wasn't promoted with them, they don't have to take up the option as they said the obligatory purchase clause expired in June But I can't really think of any in this country as a straight obligatory purchase option is a bit pointless. You might as well just sign him permanently.
