My two penneth for what it’s worth. An embarrassment for the 16500 crowd.
A painful evening on two counts; firstly, the typical City performance we’ve all seen before, playing bottom of league thinking we’ve only got to turn up to win. Only we didn’t really turn up. Barnsley wanted it more, they were in our faces, bullying, pressuring us, first to every first & second balls, we couldn’t handle it, resulting to hoof ball tactics. Both goals were self inflicted disasters of our own making. I really felt sympathy for Cartwright on his debut, the lads in front of him did nothing to protect him. If I’d have been Shota, I would have made a statement, making 2 or 3 subs at half time. The game was crying out for Thudd, the only player really capable & confident on the ball in midfield and able to accurately pick a pass. Although, probably better to start him for 60 mins and try to get ahead in the game, rather than bringing him on when chasing the game.
Secondly, where was the nets at South Stand for pre game shooting practice?? A ball got booted into the empty seats in front of me, slammed into my knee, I managed to hobble to the car later, but have a very painful, swollen, bruised knee. So, not a great night.
