One of the all time great comedy writers who put some of the funniest lines into the mouths of our finest comedians........ A truly remarkable man......
He wrote quite a bit for The Kenny Everett show, I think. When you watch that back…..**** me that was well ahead of it’s time and couldn’t see them getting away with it nowadays
Everything from the 70's and 80's was ahead of its time lol. There's hardly any comedy from the 70's that would be made nowadays, sad in a way. Are you being served was on earlier on Gold and It ain't arf hot mum was on something else . Imagine them these days lol.
Still find Les Dawson the funniest ****er ever along with Dave Allen. Had clips of Dawson on an old Parkinson show the other night, genius. Excuse me if I seem upset but it's the mother in laws funeral tomorrow. She's cancelled it
So sad to hear that Burke Shelley of Budgie has passed away a few weeks ago. One of the most underrated of the 70s rock bands and owed much to Shelley's powerful bass and unique vocals...
Very sad, there were 2 other medical emergencies at different games today also. Its unprecedented what's occurring in stadiums this season, there has to be something connecting all these cases, maybe Covid, but I've certainly never seen anything like it before.
I think the only difference now is that they stop the game when someone's getting treated. I've posted this before, but when I was about 10 I was sometimes driven to Rangers games by a neighbour who had a season ticket. He would park up and head off to take up his seat and I would go off behind the goal. I'd meet him back at his car after the game. After one game I waited and waited but he didn't show up, so I walked home to Harlesden. I found out the next day that he'd had a heart attack and died at the game. It happens.
Oooh, that must've been grim Strolls. I don't think I've been to a game where this has happened. ( And I've been to a lot of games. ) I've had to do it a couple of times as a civvy and numerous times in the job. The safest place to have a cardiac event is at a football ground nowadays as defibs are ready to be deployed. If you can't survive that than for want of a better expression you was a gonna anyway. Stainsey probably knows better than me. But defibs are a game changer in todays times. I personally believe that CPR and Defib training should be part of the school curriculum.
Agree on the training, but wouldn’t it need to be repeated pretty regularly, it’s not something that most of us will ever actually have to do, so practice is important, for the very slim chance that it’s needed. I was trained when I did my FA coaching course, but the one time I’ve had to attempt CPR was about 15 years later, and I was talked through what to do by the 999 number responder, with the phone crushed to my ear by my shoulder, until the paramedics arrived. It didn’t work unfortunately in this case, and I didn’t think it would when I started, because the man was clearly dead and the attempt wasn’t started soon enough (I think it was you who told me that you have to be bloody quick to revive someone). But I was oddly pleased with myself that at least I tried, when there were people standing around staring at the poor bloke, including a couple who claimed to be his friends, doing nothing.
