Two more Downing Street parties being reported now around the time of Prince Phillip's funeral ....

"Downing Street staff have been accused of holding two leaving parties in No 10 on the eve of the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral.

The Telegraph reported that the gatherings were made up of about 30 people drinking alcohol and dancing to music until the early hours of 17th April.

Restrictions at the time banned indoor mixing between different households."

The party was thrown by James Slack who has admitted that it was a party and has apologised ...

... not a pretend apology like the PM, a real one.

And as a bonus item he has overseen an overall reasonable defence againt Covid.
But his time is over.

The way I see it, those of us that have followed the rules aren't doing it because the government/Boris/the Conservative Party have told us to. We're doing it because the scientists and medical experts have told us to, and because its the right thing to do to protect ourselves and other people. Because of that, I don't feel like Boris, Rees Mogg etc are laughing at me. If anything, I'm laughing at them because: 1. By not following the rules they're putting themselves at unnecessary risk of catching the virus; and, 2. They don't realise the damage they've done to their own political careers by not showing solidarity with the general public.

It's a Durham Labour constituency campaign office, I'd be amazed if they didn't have beer <laugh>

There were no rules to prevent people having a beer while at work ...

... there were rules to prevent work colleagues being invited to a party.

I doubt you'd need to travel all the way up to Durham for a glass of beer tbh.

As soon as alcohol is involved it stops becoming work and starts being social.

The two events aren't comparable, and I never agreed with the idea that people couldn't mix sensibly at home but you could sit in a closed air environment with another 500 people at work, but the letter of the law was clear.

I'm not being difficult mate but that's not actually the case.

It's when people are invited into a place they can't possibly be working, and asked to bring booze, that it becomes a party.

Working then having a pint, with the same people, isn't and wasn't against the rules.

I dont have a side. I'm not being tribal. I called them both equally hapless above when it explained they were both out of order.

He is the alleged leader of the opposition.:emoticon-0102-bigsm Lets get to the nitty gritty, its his own back benchers, most of them remainers, who are supplying the info to try and bomb him out. Major, May, Robinson etc all have axes to grind and I would have been surprised if they had not taken the opportunity to put the knife in.. Hopefully, Boris will see them off.

They also ran out of booze so sent someone to the local co-op with a suitcase... Unbelievable Jeff

We did that at the Covent Garden pre-match for the first Wembley trip.

The pubs closed and the shelves of Tesco were cleared ...

... so one of the London based exiles jumped on the tube and was back with supplies within 15 minutes <cheers>

The longer Boris stops on the better chance Labour have of winning the next election. Labour call for his resignation now, but only to strongly emphasize to the floating voter that he and his close circle are a bunch of Hurrah Henry's who, unlike previous leaders, are even incapable of keeping their disdain for the Average Joe behind closed doors.
If they all buggered off to somebodies private country gaff or swanky studio flat to indulge in these parties there still would have been outrage no doubt. But to have these sneaky do's at 10 Downing Street also makes you question whether these people have the right mentality to help run the country. They either couldnt give a **** or are as thick as ****.........or probably both!
If Boris's and his close bunch of loony's are chucked overboard today and are replaced by a more stable unit to steady the ship, that would be disastrous for Labour. Thats why he is losing support from even some of his allies. They want him out now. They can no longer afford him and their party to continue stumbling from one scandal to another towards the next election.
