Hurrah! Football is back, with a festive special of REVERSE THE MECHANISM (#3).

This mighty tussle pits...

WHAM VERSUS THE SAINTS

In a Christmas miracle of sorts, we find ourselves up against that staple of Christmas songs, Wham!, with their deadly front duo of George Michail Antonio, and Andrij Ridgeley Yarmolenko.

Wham! have been on something of a resurgence this season, despite recent form, undoubtedly helped by recent retrospectives on the passing of Freddie Mercury, once again highlighting George's performance par excellence in the Freddie tribute concerts, including this extraordinary footage from rehearsals -

Christmas is, of course, also a time where we remember those who have left us, and fortunately Wham! were kind enough to write a festive song about ex Saints players, which I've taken the liberty of reproducing here:

WHAM!
Last Chris Marsden.

Last Chris Marsden,
We gave you a vax,
But Le Tissier,
Gave his away.
This year,
To save me from tears,
I'll give it to Hasenhuttl (huttl).

Once Beattie and twice shy
I shot from distance, Egil still caught my eye
Tell me, Bally, do you recognize me?
Well, it's been a Shearer, Benali surprise me
"Perry Christmas, " I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying, "I love Guly, " I meant it
Now I know what Agboola I've been
But if you kissed Monkou, I know you'd fool me again

Last Chris Marsden,
We gave you a vax,
But Le Tissier,
Gave his away.
This year,
To save me from tears,
I'll give it to Hasenhuttl (huttl).

A crowded Dell, friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you, and from Jermaine Wright.
Maya God, I thought you were Morgan Schneiderlin.
Me? I guess I was Lallana to cry on.
A Fonte as a lover with a fire in his heart
A man called Østlund, but you tore me apart
Guuu-lee
Now I've found a real love, Uli Van Gobbel me again.

Last Chris Marsden,
We gave you a vax,
But Le Tissier,
Gave his away.
This year,
To save me from tears,
I'll give it to Hasenhuttl (huttl).

Jermaine Wright.

The only name that when appearing on a Saints team sheet made me consider turning round and walking straight back out again :emoticon-0145-shake

If Antonio, Rice, Fornals and Bowen could all produce false positives on the morning of Boxing Day that would be appreciated (not actually get covid though, I wouldn't wish that on anyone).

Another in the long list of grounds we always lose at. West Ham haven’t been quite what they were earlier in the season, but they’re still much better than us. Would be delighted if we could sneak a draw.

I just had to say "Alexa, play Last Christmas" so I could join in to your lyrics.

WH were lucky to get out of SMS with a point - the much lauded Antonio never got a kick. So no reason we can`t do similar at their place - 1-1.
