Well , it’s typically Saints isn’t it! if McCarthy was injured, then not letting the staff know (as aledged) was the height of unprofessionalism. I wont be too upset if he never plays again. Been awful this year.
Slightly extreme but if as mentioned it is a trigger to us definitely looking for a new number 1 with him a definitive backup rather than someone roughly equal to “challenge” and hopefully end up taking over then things might work out
One highlight; Broja man, what a player. Let’s make the most of him this year because I don’t see him signing for us.
If we're in emergency loan territory I suspect it'll be someone like Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea. In an ideal world we'd just go and upgrade the GK position in January by buying Johnstone (don't see why he'd do anything before the summer) or try to loan someone in. I think we'll run with the GKs we have (emergency deal notwithstanding) until the summer and then attempt to upgrade.
Nearly didn’t wear it, because it hasn’t really been that lucky, plus I have a warmer, woolly one. Wearing that next time
No one will take him and he has signed an extension. He wanted a bigger contract elsewhere and an offer clearly wasn’t forthcoming. And that was when he would have been available for nothing Cost us? He saved us a point against Leicester when it was 2-2
Went a Saints game in nearly 2 years. I was going to say that it was 2 points dropped and Saints stopped playing for the last 10 minutes which is all true. Then I read that Alex McCarthy was injured in the build up to the Brighton goal which meant JWP had go on the goal line playing Maupay onside. This was totally unprofessional. He cost his team a point and let his team mates down. I'm not sure where McCarthy goes from here. Poor form can improve but this is a loss of trust. I would defend McCarthy before but I'm starting to think we now need a new keeper in the transfer window.
We can't loan Bettinelli, owing to Broja. I'm guessing we're going to have to roll with Lewis for this month.
I have eaten seagull. It’s a customary Maori food down south. They stick em in salt to store and then roast them. It tastes like anchovy. Pretty disgusting and I managed about a bite while the local chow down on a whole bird and about four years worth of sodium.
That was the most disappointing result of the season for me. So frustrating to be in that position at the end of the game. Salisu and Romeu both needlessly booked and suspended, livramento still in need of a break, multiple goals scoring ops gone begging yet again. Too slow to make changes when the game was there for the taking and JWP playing them onside for the damn equaliser. an equal number of positives, Macca had a good game, Lyanco excellent, tella, redmond, KWP all very good. Broja took his goal well but could have had 3. we should be sitting in 7th this season but still mired in the danger zone, that’s what’s grinding my gears today. The players on the ground at the end said it all for me.
Adrian, Heaton and Randolph are 3rd choice PL keepers with previous PL experience. (Should we be forced down the emergency loan route.)
respectfully, there’s nothing bang average about the football. It’s fantastic, it’s the results that are average. There’s a difference for me.
Ah, good point. That sees that off then... Tom Heaton, anyone? Darren Randolph at West Ham another maybe.
We've been rumoured to have interest in Sam Johnstone previous, and if we are not literally broke, he makes a logical January target, probably with Forster (if fit) going back to West Brom on loan. His contract expires after the season, and while WBA is a promotion contender, they also aren't in great financial shape.
what is that trust based on? We went through managers for fun and endured the worst football I’ve ever watched for years before Ralph came in.
didn’t we get ditched by Koeman and hire the dour and boring Puel who we fired to be replaced by the most inept manager I’ve ever seen who was fired to bring in a huge waste of space who was eventually fired to bring in Ralph?
That’s a fair point. I think given our position we’re not facing relegation down the barrel, they won’t be in a hurry. Ralph will only be sacked if we find someone more suitable.
