I’m starting to think we won’t get promoted under Paul Cook. Granted he’s had success elsewhere, but I’m struggling to see where his tactical nous is. The coaching set up doesn’t appear to offer anything. We’ve got good players, but we’re constantly being out-thought tactically. Cambridge appear to have gone 4-4-2 in the second half and they’re now outplaying us. We struggle to see a game out. We’re constantly relinquishing leads.
2-2 it finishes. Disappointing game in the end. After looking good in the first half we lost our way in the second under strong pressure from Cambridge. Aluko, Edmundson and Chaplin were good.
Sorry but I just don't understand why El Mizouni started, not good enough imo. Still not convinced by Fraser and Chaplin!!
So disappointing and similar pattern as in previous games. Tactically naive, agree with Nuggets. Questions about coaching must be heard and acted on.
Conceding from a corner is really bad. It’s percentage wise a really low scoring chance as everyone is back defending, has time etc as opposed to a winger crossing. Cook is not using the players effectively in a tactical sense.
I never fancied us to go up this year and after our abysmal start we really needed to have a winning streak by now and that hasn’t happened so I don’t think there’s any chance this season. But I do like the progress and I reckon if we strengthen in January and again next summer then we will be in pole position for 22-23.
Keep changing the side every week is not good. Still think we haven't solved the goalkeeper position. Not flexible enough in formations, sometimes you need to tweak the formation but cook won't have it!
Strengthen where tho, Cook ain't got a clue who to play where as it is, make a few more signings and he will be changing the whole 11 each week!
I switched my 3-0 on here to 3-1 at the bookies as I felt on reflection they’d have a good chance of scoring once today. At 2-0 a team should have the tactical nous to see it out. Not every time, but most times. Yet we **** it up every time. At 2-1 I opted not to cash out and held out for third for a profitable afternoon but we failed the basic test of defending a corner. But in the round I cannot see how anyone could see we’d lose 3-0, I don’t see any evidence to support that outcome. Dear ITFC please get a defensive coach in and fast.
Perhaps Spanish, they spent the whole game trying to work out whether the Cambridge shirts were yellow or gold ! And then just had a mental breakdown, hence the 2 all draw
I would now set about signing just two or three quality players in each window to improve the squad. We need a talisman #8 CAM and a better keeper. It wouldn’t hurt to have more striking and wide options and to sign an experienced centre back. The squad is too big and we should be selling or releasing at least as many as we sign.
The last time we played them in the league they neatly got into the top flight! Very different times!
I agree, given the changes Cook has made this was never going to be an overnight transformation, the argument is whether the scale of changes were needed or whether evolution wouldve been a better route. There's no doubt the dramatic changes made have contributed to our poor start and Cook needs to take responsibility for this, he has no excuses. I've seen gradual improvements and I always said if we continue improving this season and we're in and around the playoffs by the end that'd be satisfactory. If that's the case i feel we should give Cook 4 transfer windows and if we're not competing for the automatic places the second half of next season he's got no excuses.
