I think that Gil, Tanganga and Skipp are all grafters anyway, but playing in your natural position helps. Our Spanish winger isn't nearly as good on the right, but still plugged away when he moved there. Son's introduction clearly hurt his game, though. He had far less impact after that. Our main problem is that we've got nobody to run the midfield and we're using square pegs there. Skipp and Hojbjerg are both fine in the holding role and the Dane can play box-to-box, too. We need to find someone to pick out passes and control the tempo, though. We don't have anyone to do that in this squad, in my opinion.
Decent draw that. Must be the furthest Burnley have got in a cup competition for ages. They’ll definitely play their reserves
I don't see City having as much joy at the Corruption Arena as they've had in recent years. I'm sure they won a bunch of games scoring 4 and 5 for a while. Weird draw: Chelsea v Southampton Arsenal v Leeds Stoke v Brentford West Ham v Manchester City Leicester v Brighton Burnley v Tottenham QPR v Sunderland Preston v Liverpool Almost looks seeded or something, barring the QPR v Sunderland game.
That's not Burnley rain though , I worked up there for 4 weeks in the 80s and never saw the sun and developed trenchfoot
Something wrong here. Spurs through on penalties? Wow!!!! But I am so sad United lost.Heartbreak that one......!Maybe they've tried to turn United v City into a Real Madrid v Barcelona special and it got to them. TOUGH!
Isn't that a contradiction of the defence you gave for Lo Celso, a player we have had on our books for 2 years and paid a small fortune for (relatively)? He was playing on 'the wrong side' but didn't even graft. Bryan got stuck in for the 96 mins and stepped up for a pen. Early days, but I think I know who I'd be more likely to rely on.
Still a matter of playing on the 'wrong' side whether that be the wing or MF. Bryan Gil did his job. Lo Celso patently did not. I totally agree that you should put players in their most accustomed positions, but sometimes that's not possible. That's when you need them to still graft. I don't see that from GLC, even as a combative MF. That's my grouch with him (not you )
Gil's used to playing on a side though, even if it's the wrong one. Lo Celso doesn't have any attributes that suit a winger, especially with a defensive fullback. Tanganga largely had a good game, but he's not going to be bombing on all day and providing lots of width. We've basically got half a team's worth of attacking midfielders and none of them are playing there. It's not a position we use, yet it's a bunch of our main players' preferred position.
