I suspect he said he would plead 'not guilty' to the club so then he could continue picking up his wages for the next few months, keeping the true extent of his crime under wraps until he inevitably pleaded guilty. The club let him play hoping he would get off through a technicality or get some sort of lesser charge. Which is wrong. If he denied everything he couldnt really be suspended. The moment he admitted kissing the lass he should have been suspended. When the full truth came out, I was embarrassed for the club. I assumed he'd get found innocent, been trapped by some groupie after a story. Not knowing she was 15 etc. We all thought he'd just been daft, not asked or been aware of the lasses age, hence the stupid chants from a bunch of idiot supporters. As a supporter him pleading guilty was a proper punch to the gut. Johnson manipulated the club in order to get a final payday, the club buried its head in the sand and allowed him to so they could claim their Premier League cash. Disgraceful.
