Right now I’d change Saka for Grealish and leave the team as it was. I said pre-game that the match was too big for Saka and it was, he could affect it at all.

I’d actually leave the back three/five as well, it’s functional if not exciting, but the two centre mids were immense with that extra centre half behind them.

It is solid, yeah.

Can't argue that we've conceded zero goals either so defence wise, we're doing well. (wonder if everyone still thinks Maguire is **** by the way?)

With a back three is there scope to consider a Mount or Foden instead of Rice?

Can't see him tinkering though, trust and all that!

No, I completely agree that on the face of it it looks promising and that the competition is opening up before us.

We've also been here before though. Beating Germany doesn't equate to winning the tournament, there's work to do yet and a calmer reaction would probably be beneficial to the team as the whole thing is now going to get ramped up out of proportion.

As for the fans, be great to play both the semi and (hopefully) final at Wembley but next match is in Rome with no fans so that's a stumbling block, although we should have the beating of Ukraine as we've a superior squad.

Prefer a bit of realism myself, I can jump around throwing beer at everyone if we actually win it.

Get your point about how we've not won it yet but not sure I agree that we've been here before. When exactly have we comfortably beaten a top nation in a ko match and been heavy favourites to reach a final? Certainly not in my lifetime.

One game at a time of course but I'm definitely gonna enjoy the moment and believe that we might just do something special.

Got to give Denmark/Czech/Ukraine respect but we look defensively solid and it'd absolutely be a failure to not reach the final at this point.

‘Star of the match’ yesterday but let’s not mention it because he’s not a kid who run past a fullback once.

Difference for me this time is the bench, because in the past we’d have ****e like Darius Vassell and Jermaine Defoe to bring on for Rooney or Shearer. Now we have a mass of talent like Grealish, Foden, Sancho, Rashford, Henderson etc who have a blend of ability, experience, pace, leadership etc and it just feels better balanced.

Very few ego’s as well, probably none to be honest, since Trent had to go home.

id drop Sterling

apart from the goals, he hasnt brought much else to the game

His primary job is to supply Kane so I would probably go for Sancho next game, more of a team player and I think that will be more beneficial for us going forward in games I’m expecting to be a bit tougher than what he have faced so far.

<laugh>

Give Kane chance to catch up on Sterling's goal tally. I wonder if Kane can do it, without the aid of penalties and diving in the box? :bandit:

Talking of diving in the box, the chance Kane fluffed early in the game, I loved the way he left his leg dangling as he went to the ground, snide penalty attempt going on there.

I think Harry Maguire is a fantastic player, worth every penny of his £80M.

I know you ain’t being serious like, but a player’s cost isn’t what he’s worth, it’s what the seller wants to let him leave.

Same with a house you don’t want to sell, the buyer needs to pay over the odds to get you out.

£80m for a human being will always be utterly stupid.

Ok we're all a bit excited after beating Germany, but I think Southgate is taking this training lark too far now....

True, I know what you are really alluding to though mate, just come out with it....who would pay a £100M for a donkey as a striker. :cheesy:

Don't you remember the halcyon days of Sven?

Always reached a quarter final, always ****ed up.

Same level of expectation then as now. Can't argue that we're in a good position but so are the other quarter finalists, all of which got there with some merit.

I just don't get the jumping around throwing beer probably.
