Apologies if my responses are a bit abrupt and feel rude. Had a few too many. Appreciate the comments.
I take a daily codliver oil tablet to combat the 2 days of stiffness after the weekly 5aside, it worked a treet for me, but no 5aside since year gone march so could be struggling with the extra pounds I've put on. Just finished an Alishaan and now getting to grips with the Malbec
Stopped playing at 14 yrs old due to ****ed up knees. Switched to cricket and lasted another 10 years before giving up as I managed to screw over my elbows and shoulders too. Bad genes, childhood poverty and love of football. But I would do it all again even if told how I would end up.
Played 5 a side into my early 40's, but knee issues stopped me playing. Started taking golf more serious then, don't regret it, i'm better at golf than footie for sure.
They are indeed. Atill have mine, safely stored away for what seems to be posterity. I played 11s into my early 40s, 5 aside til mid 40s. Now back in blighty i ain't played a jot. Having ruptured tendons in both feet i am wary of getting back to it, and need to get fitter, but looking for a seniors run out - ideally 7-a-side. Bit more space, bit less manic.
I stopped playing when 37. I am now 53 and I have just qualified as a referee so now run about as ref for youth games instead. Great way to keep fit and you get paid to do it.
Packed up playing football on Sat & Sun about 10 years ago but have started playing 5-a-side recently. But being 48 I'm dropping to bits ..... Last time I played I pulled my right glute and it still gives me gip. Going to a physio to see if I can resurrect my career
Last game of football at 35. Stopped playing Rugby when I left the RAF as new employer would have taken exception if I turned in on Monday mornings looking as if I'd been in a brawl. But my real love was running. That picked up again when Half Marathon's started. I continued, happily ' till my knee needed attention when I was 56. The Surgeon warned me trhat if I tried to carry on it would mean having very restricted movement as both hips and knees looks poor. I took his advice, and twenty + years later I have two hip and one knee repacements, but I'm still fairly mobile. My only regret is that, since I was going to have these problems, even if I'd sat in a chair all day long, I didn't enjoy more running while I was able. I should hasve done more while I could. So my advice to carry on as long as you can and get the most out of your 'hobby'. Then take pleasure from your memories.
