Well chaps, got back today. Minus my phone which has my €125 electronic ticket for Croatia on it. Lost it. Sober-ish at the time too. Got home today & tried to contact Wembley & the SFA. Both closed to Monday. UEFA appear to be quite mercenary. Looks like I've lost my ticket! Will have it confirmed on Monday, hopefully. Was listening to the radio on the way back up. There were loads of pundits on & off R5L, focussing mainly on england, surprise, surprise. But what they concluded & agreed is that england might not qualify! Not a wind-up by me, as I've only watched the Scotland games in our group, so can't comment - I'm just telling you what they said. What they said was that the Czechs were the best team in the group by far, and that Croatia are the poorest, being an aging team missing the quality they had in abundance not so very long ago. Ferdinand et al reckoned that the england fans have got carried away by the Croatia result, & are aiming too high. Simple as that, really, & tbf, they're ex-professionals, so when they all appear to concur, you've got to look at it. I can tell you from 1st hand experience that the Czechs are indeed very talented, and put in one of the most rough-house performances I've seen since we played Uruguay way back. I hope you get a better ref than we did. We should have had 2 penalties at least & they should have had plenty of cards. I'm not talking particularly dirty tackles, btw. On so many occasions we had someone go to jump for a header, only to be smashed out of the way by an opponent on the ground. Often it was a blatant 2 hand shove in these situations too. I think we got one foul out all those smash 'n' grabs. You have been warned. A difficult opponent is trouble enough, but when they take gamesmanship & downright dirty play to the limit, you are going to have a problem. The basturds also had a big stroke of luck for that second goal. Peach, but it was just one of those crazy things that gave him the ball for his goal. First was a beautiful header. We can't complain. What it comes down to is that if Scotland beat Croatia (fingers crossed), & the Czechs beat england, then it comes down to goal difference. Do you think Southgate will have the team sit back & hope for a draw, or will he play the open, expansive football the squad are capable of? I think we can all guess. Btw, for those who referred to Scotland's tactics, we play 3-5-2. We are very lucky that we have 2 world class LBs in the team, & although Tierney plays CB, he attacks up the left with Robertson, both with extraordinary pace - & both with superb end product. What would you give to sign either one of them?
You must have an account for your ticket. Can you not just sign in from another device and print it off?.
I see the myth of the tartan army being peaceful and shaming england fans is just that. They even destroyed flower beds the hard nuts. Over twenty thousand have returned to their homes taking with them the latest covid variant. Expect to see surges in covid cases in places like chester.. Manchester.. Hull and wetherby.
Y You had 5 at the back against England it was one of the first things picked up on by the match commentator. Englands full backs did not overlap much at all. Was this a failure or part of Southgates tactics (if he has any). We had three headless chickens running around up front and the statue harry kane.
Croatia will beat Scotland and we will beat the Czechs, you've had your cup final, time to go home Tuesday . But you will always have your best ever result a 0-0 against England, to tell your grandchildren about.
Think you could be right, pens against the Germans, last 16 is favourite. Who will you support when your England obsessions over for another season.
All those at the G7 barbecue who give the orders to the plebs to stay indoors and not to travel have also taken the so called delta variant (yeah right)with them. So you can see why some people will say **** this. I applaud the thousands of Scots who travelled to Londonistan
Hope you had a good day out. Looked like you all did. I agree regarding Robertson/Tierney. I think either of those two would walk in to LB spot for England. I have a genuine question though. How many Scotland players do you think would deserve a starting spot if they were English? That's not a wind up....genuinely interested in a Scottish perspective on that. As for the pundits saying England won't qualify then I guess they don't know the format. 4 points is more than likely going to be good enough to secure a best 3rd place finish spot. I'd say a win against Croatia would be good enough for you lot to qualify and its a winnable game even if that means you finish 3rd. I think you are underselling Croatia though. On their day they are a very good side and have the players to score from nothing. As for everyone waiting for England to be knocked out. Its highly likely that happens in the next round regardless of where we finish. We are bang out of form and playing the wrong system. It would take a big swing to change our fortunes. I hope Scotland make it through but I don't like the Welsh and @Irishshako is slowly turning me off the ROI too.
Nope. It's the most sophisticated system I've seen in my life. It's all electronic & once you lock in the ticket, it's non-transferrable. Don't know how it works, but I know that you have to switch on blutooth as you approach the stadium & their system interacts with your phone & that's the only way to get in - you can't print it off. Checked as I don't trust my phone. You can for your jab history check. Anyhoos, sent texts to the phone with Mrs WJ's number last night. She got a call this morning & I'm about to phone him to arrange to get it back as he's flying into Glasgow for Tuesday's match. Result!!
