So far, there are 23 teams confirmed for League 2 next season. They are... Barrow Bradford Bristol Rovers Carlisle Colchester Crawley Exeter FGR Harrogate Leyton Orient Mansfield Newport Northampton Oldham Port Vale Rochdale Salford Scunthorpe Stevenage Sutton Swindon Tranmere Walsall 1 position remain which is from the National League play offs involving 6 teams.
I am not really up to date with the squads for all the L2 teams. But just looking at the clubs on that list above, on paper, there isn't any that stand out to be worried about. I think we would do ok and should definitely be in the top 7. However, games are not played on paper and there will be a lot of new players that will need to gel and learn Barton's way so that will take time as rarely does a newly built squad are ready to compete effectively from the get go. So if we can get the right players in who can defend and can score then we might have a chance as long as we are not to adrift by the time it all clicks together -IF it clicks together under Barton.
We'll struggle to get into the top half, let alone the playoffs. Everyone will up their game when they play us, and we'll need to be as good as a respectable top half League One side to make the playoffs. Clarke's got Port Vale rocking, and we'll find that plenty of sides down there will have high hopes and ambitions next year. I remember when we were quite near the bottom of League Two when Ricky Lambert was in the side. The lads put in a great run at the end of the season, but it wasn't all plain sailing by any means. It's rough down there...
Could be facing Tisdale next season. According to Bristol Live.... "Tisdale is in the final three contenders for the Orient job, while he also leads the betting for the vacancy at Swindon."
Looks like we’ll have a nice short trip to FGR next season after tonight’s performance against Newport. Even shorter for me as I live 10mins drive from the New Lawn!
Blackpool beat Oxford 3 - 0 in the playoff first leg at Oxford maybe we didn't do that badly against them afterall
Yep! You do realise that result will probably mean that FGR will stay in League 2 next season - which is where we'll be plying our trade as well?
Just 2 teams left to complete the L2 line up. The loser of the the L2 play offs out of Morecambe and Newport and the winner from the National League players which hasn't started as still games remaining in their league. Potentially, there are 10 clubs still within a chance to get in the play offs and win it.
Just watched the goals from the FGR v Newport match, if we keep the same defence as we had this season FGR and Newport if they lose the final will put ten past us
The National League finished its season today. Just the play offs remain. 6 clubs fighting it out to join us next season. Torquay, Stockport, Hartlepool, Notts County, Chesterfield and Bromley. Play off eliminators: Game A) 5th June Notts County vs Chesterfield Game B) 6th June Hartlepool vs Bromley Play off semi finals: 12th June Torquay vs winner of Game A 13th June Stockport vs winner of Game B Final at Trashton Gate on 20th June.
“Final at Trashton Gate on 20th June.” That’ll be the best game of football that place has seen all season!
