Sunderland AFC transfer rumours: Contract talks opened with Jermain Defoe amidst reported Cats interest as Jordan Jones labelled 'too good' for League One the full story is here https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...ones-labelled-too-good-for-league-one-3224642
Don't get excited/ exasperated/enraged* but the report says that Rangers have opened talks with Jermain Defoe *delete as appropriate
Jordan Jones looks very good in periods, but definitely not consistent enough to be considered ‘too good’ for league 1.
He’s like Maguire n some ways. Can look a world beater but can also be completely anonymous. Suppose experience may change that
what the hell has happened to the echo? years ago it was the 'go to' source for local stories, now wants you to subscribe to read things already published elsewhere. obviously, would love to see defoe back for his swan song but cant see it happening, jones showed enough to suggest he could be a useful squad player but, as mentioned, needs to be more consistent.
Agree with that. It is clear he has plenty of talent but doesnt bring it out enough. He also, in my opinion at least, has started going over too easily looking for fouls. He goes to sleep at times when we dont have the ball too. I honestly dont know if I would try to sign him or not due to his inconsistency. Just praying he is flying next 3 games because he has could be the match winner.
After the early signs I had hoped for a bit more from Jones if I am being completely honest. I accept wingers tend to be in and out of games and it's not to say if was around next year he may be what we need. I just think he could have added that extra sparkle.
Make it happen KLD. He’s still got it and would be the signing we need regardless of whether we are in L1 or the championship. Just watched him put the 4th in for rangers and he is just plain old quality.
Isn’t he just! Real centre forward and keeps himself super fit! Would love him back here but can’t see it sadly
Me neither but it would be a massive sign of intent from the owner. He’s would rip the championship a new one I am 100% sure. His quality for the 4th goal was sublime. Know where to be when to play and when to delay, utter class.
Wrong thread but..... That's a nice finish by a former CF. Welbeck did very well for us. (so did Defoe)
sure i heard that Mr Welbeck is also a free agent, not had many appearences but a decent return from him...guess we are all 'straw clutching' a wee bit right now, although a drop to the championship could be far more tempting than a drop to the third division.
