I sincerely hope not. It's been a long time since we've had a real hero at the club. In my head, he has a long future with us in various capacities.
The first of many lazy articles by Glen Mitrovic https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...seven-relegated-players-cardiff-city-20570267
Not sure we have 6 holes to fill. Some of those will be plugged by the tyros we've seen in the last couple months. Also, players like Rhodes dont meet the age prifile the club is looking to acheive. An old head or two is essential, but we have those at the club. If the club statement is to be believed we wont be signing anyone over 30 and probably no older than 27. Even after losing the 6 mentioned I dont think we'll be signing more than 3 players, then it will be 1 out, 1 in.
Cardiff City's summer transfer plans revealed - big names set to leave amid cost cutting measures, the core players McCarthy will keep and who comes in - Wales Online Looks like we may be living off scraps again next season if this article is true and Moore might have to be sold to bring in new players!
As it’s not Glen writing this then it’s more likely to be genuine, which if it is disappointing to read. Doesn’t Tan trust MM to find better players than he’s already got - especially in central midfield- as without them to supplement the youngsters coming through it’s going to be another season where City on occasions will do well but not good enough to maintain a decent challenge? NW and NH were given the opportunity to spend and although there were some successes there were more flops; so shouldn’t MM be given the same opportunity? Surely it’s a false economy to not seek to increase the value of the club to an interested buyer (if Tan is thinking of selling)? To do that he’s got to get it in the PL but without spending to accumulate the club will just drift along.
Difficult times for all Ninian. Severe loss of revenue over the last season and a bit will have an impact on most clubs during the transfer window. It's also the season for rumours, smokescreens and all sorts of nonsense, but I think spending big is going to be out of the question. I would be planning for a season of consolidation and see how Covid behaves.
Talk is we are going to try to get Wilson on loan again, can't see us selling Moore unless it's for big bucks. Enough to get 2 or 3 players who could help us to the promised land.
Brown attracting interest https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...european-side-reportedly-eyeing-move-20590205
I read that. I could be good for the lad. He needs regular game time at 23. I suppose it comes down to MM and whether he sees him as a genuine part of the squad or if he was just a stop gap given where we were. Lots of ifs, buts and maybes with a lot of moving parts. If the goal is to generate cash and reduce the wage bill Bennett may not be with us next season. Won't generate cash, but is probably one of the bigger earners. Does that make Began first choice? If a new signing comes in, Began 1st reserve. Brown could provide useful cover across the back unless MM makes signings in those areas. Im sure there will be a bit of a clear out but the first signing could trigger a number of differnt paths.
Celtic looking at him as well................. https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-celtic-leading-chase-highly-touted-cardiff-defender
Young, not a big earner, offers some versatility and improved steadily with more game time. Celtic would have had a good look at him during his stint at Livingston. We have an option for another 12 months but if we took this and he decided he wanted to move on then he could sign a pre contract deal in January and go for nothing (better wages for him) next summer. The question is does MM rate him enough not just to take up the option but also to get him to sign a new contract for 2 or 3 years? Then at least we could get some money for him next year if he wanted away. I don't think he would be a first choice in a back 5 with Morro, Nelson and Flint fit. Although (and correct me if I'm wrong) I don't believe there is a natural left footer in those 3. Perhaps an opportunity to move Flint on (in my view the weakest of those 3 and a big earner) and use Brown. Assuming we either promote another youngster or sign a new cb and have that person and Bamba as cover. As for left back, if Bennett looks like he will fully recover I would give him another 2 year deal with him and Bagan challenging for the left back spot. Bennett can also play as cb in a back 5 if pressed.
MM seems to like Flint. Hiwever, if theres a low risk option to lower the wage bill it should be considered. Brown may not be as solid a Flint at the moment but offers other attributes. Also, Brown has time to develop, not so Flint. Does MM think Brown is ready?
Anyone here worth having? Warnock probably wlll have a dart at Diedhiou again given he’s let Fletcher and Assambolonga go. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/cardiff-city-take-note-bristol-20596676
Have the occasional watching visit to the Brizzle board and have read mixed reviews about a number of those listed simetimes suggesting they are not getting the best out of them. Could be that in the right formation some could excel. Its where the management team should earn their crust. How are you going to line up and play. Do those players add to the squad in that set up? At the moment I'm still not convinced I know hiw MM will set the team up next season. He stumbled on a formula with what he had this year. Is that his preferred set up or will he recruit for something different? Whatever happens, the midfield needs sorting ahead of anything else.
"We have identified three or four targets. A couple of offers have gone out - I believe as of this afternoon one was accepted - but we'll see what happens," added Dalman, speaking to Radio Wales Sport. Quote from Dalman. I wonder whose offer has been accepted and how many of those three or four targets are midfielders?
