I'm not disputing that at all. I just didn't see the point in bigging up a Leicester player on a Hull City forum. Having said that I wished we'd have signed him.
Though he filled in and did very well as the holding plyer, isn't his natural position is centre back. Think it would be unlikely if we kept him for that role. I would like to us keep both Burke and Jones, but suspect one may be sacrificed. They are both young and at this stage of careers need regular first team football.
Anyone for Davies... https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/derby-county-star-curtis-davies-5355445
I reckon he would add leadership to the dressing room possibly....Still good enough for the chumpionship! Thiago Silva is 36 I think.
Yes but he'll probably retire at 37(as did Baresi).I wouldn't mind if McCann has a budget to bring in one or two experienced lads for the Championship but I wouldn't want to see it spent on players who might give us a season at best.
Depends. If those players helped us to a decent safe finishing position or even challenging for playoffs, it would be great business.
At 30? Players don't suddenly stop developing aged 30, it's not like it's a magical number that halts their ability to improve or learn. He never had pace to begin with, I really don't want to see him become the scapegoat for next season because he's just captained a team to a potential title win. He's an integral part of the team and the dressing room and while the emergence of Alfie Jones has been brilliant, Smallwood is just as important to the squad.
Id like to see us offload Jordi and bring in an experienced championship goalkeeper, centre half, holding midfielder, centre forward and try to keep hold of Whyte and Crowley.
I just don't see it on the field. Players lose him too easily.... He's obviously got something, three promotions from L1.... But I thought we were better, quicker when he hasn't been in the side.
He's a bit like Corry Evans in the way that he plays, his awareness of the game is better than Alfie's but that comes with age. Don't get me wrong, I think Alfie Jones will be a concrete starter next season, but I don't think him and Smallwood are the same player. The games that Smallwood missed earlier in the season against more physical teams are where he excels.
