Any wife of yours deserves a medal, and with that ****e she's serving up it would be an Iron Cross, third class!
That's amazing to find another player from that time. Frank Clark and myself started it, Yes, Black and red strips was the kit.
Frank Clark up front, Panda in midfield, Derick (I think!) was our mature and unusually sensible centre half, Mike Armstrong, Dave Culpan, John (Domestos) Clemence, ?Roland Pavlok etc. I think the lad I replaced a few weeks into that first season was called Robin. Local rivals at the time were Saint Peters Youth Club who followed us up the leagues for years - the last time I played against them was for Anlaby Park Rangers in the giddy heights of the Sunday League and they had Ken Houghton at full back.
Did this David Burdett live on Gower Road, Boothferry Estate? If so we lived next door to him and as a young boy remember seeing him on tv being winched on a stretcher onto a ship after being rescued. First time I realised being on a trawler was so perilous.
Squad currently can't be worth more than 15m I wouldn't have thought. If Wilks/KLP/Greaves etc. step up and do well in the Championship, that would probably double though.
Well, I'm Panda, so you're memories serve you well. I worked with John Clements and Derek also worked on the fish dock, so knew them both from there. It was Roman Pawluk, a good player, just overweight. I played with him in the Anlaby County Primary School team. Was it Mike that went on to run them as Anlaby Park Rangers?
Mike Armstrong went on to play for years but the lad who went on to run the team for a while was Mike Ford. I remember you well, you used to give me lifts to games sometimes and occasionally used to take prodigious dead ball kicks Meanwhile it might be worth starting a separate thread for all of the posters who played amateur football - lots of stories to share no doubt.
