The Spurs involvement is the biggest discrepancy in all of this. Yeah, it's a decent stadium and they've had a recent purple patch of getting UCL football - but that's it. I'd say if it had been 4 clubs - Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal and one of Chelsea or City - it would make sense. Perhaps even all five, given the wealth. But Spurs? No, that makes no sense. Leicester makes more sense than Spurs, and Leicester aren't "Elite".
LOL! The Saudi's are surely going to tell them to piss off, right? BeIN are going to be furious (hence PSG not getting involved). I heard it was DAZN (backed by another Russian oligarch) who were already lined up?
Don't forget Spurs were the first club to put business above football in their model (Irving Scholar), the first to float on the stock market, the principle persuant of the creation of a premier league. Recent Champion's League qualifications and a shiny new stadium have enabled them to rub shoulders and have the ears of Real Madrid, Juventus, etc. Plus, being in London always opens doors to big business and international markets.
Hope so. I know everyone always carries on about him being moody, defensive etc but I really like him.
I don't think he will. He didn't quit when he went through that bad patch a while ago, when he was getting pressured in to quitting.
Don't think what will go ahead?! Mate, the ESL kicks off in August, the £4.7bn has already been handed out to clubs who signed that document. It's a done deal already, there's no "will it/won't it"!! It's all about the ramifications now.
Without doubt he's a bit bonkers but i actually think he would be a decent fit at the Toon. He clearly has a hell of a lot of respect for SBR and I think he would be very interested in the job if it was offered to him. He's managed top clubs all over Europe and won trophies with most of them, there isn't really many places left that would be that appealing for him. He doesn't strike me as a national manager as he likes the day to day engagement with a club. With new owners and the opportunity to rip up a club from top to bottom and start again it could be something that would look very tempting to him I would say.
Yep, won trophies with "all", now has to be replaced with "most"! If be amazed if he was interested in this job, there isn't a chance in hell of success here, and no way would be work under Ashley. Not really the set up he goes for...!
Indeed - though to be fair I don’t think anyone predicted just how incompetent these people turned out to be. It went from being a done deal with the money ready to go, to being in the bin in 36 hours.
In the running for the Celtic job now lol. Any manager knows they're a ****ing has been when they have to take the Celtic job!
