Some to ignore Ayr 115 King D’Argent 150 One More Fleurie ew 225 Milkwood Newb 135 Outbox 210 Wild Iris ew 245 Alkumait
Cant believe Theinval won that. Have backed him year after year at Cheltenham. Thought he had no chance today so ignored him
I think Snow Lantern could have been a Guineas filly but not after the way shes been campaigned, be surprised if they run and I dont think shes an Oaks filly which they seem intent on running in, strange stuff.
At least she'll have tried the mile in advance of the Guineas (if she goes there). Nothing more depressing than backing a horse for the Guineas only to find out in the race itself that it doesn't get the mile. I guess they could have gone Fred Darling instead?
Derab had been the subject of support for the Derby and was in to 25/1. I didn't see the logic at all with that one. Sky Lantern is 20/1 for the Oaks but I think today's race looked well short of the quality required for Classics and Derab was pushed out to 40/1 for the Derby afterwards. I wouldn't take 100/1 on him. Today's Guineas trials look a choice of two in both cases. I went with Umm Kulthum at 6/1 and Chindit at 2/1. Umm Kulthum is more likely to be suited by 7 furlongs in my opinion and Alcohol Free looks another sprinter to my eyes. I preferred Chindit to Al Kumait and if Hannon's colt can't win this it looks like he will have nothing for the Guineas this season. Gosden's Fundamental has a win under his belt but looks to have 10 lbs to find to be involved. 2.10 Umm Kulthum 6/1 2.45 Chindit 2/1
Alcohol Free gets its on the bob, no hoper in the Guineas, Snow Lantern would be the best prospect at 1m+ of the fillies todays imo.
After seeing that Hannon may be tempted to take a chance as it does not look a deep Guineas, there was only 2 lengths between a bunch in the fillies mile and none of them looked like a Love in the making. Genuine Group 1 mile fillies look very thin on the ground.
Some to ignore Ayr 115 King D’Argent 150 One More Fleurie ew 225 Milkwood Newb 135 Outbox 210 Wild Iris ew 245 Alkumait I repeat ... well I never again! . 2 from 5 is nothing to shout about but it's a x2 improvement on recent efforts!
Umm Kulthum didn't seem to stay. There seemed some confidence that there was enough stamina on the dam side for 7F but she patently didn't last. Alcohol Free just lasted home from a filly with an official rating of 86 and the third was a Class 5 Maiden winner with a RPR of 80. Isabella Giles needs mud in my opinion and this looked a mediocre Fred Darling at best. I can't believe that Alcohol Free is 9/1 for the Guineas and maiden winner Snow Lantern at 8/1 is terrible value at only 1 pt bigger than the Fillies Mile winner Pretty Gorgeous. At least the Hannon filly will stay. Alcohol Free is a madness price.
Welcome to the Forum. I like the look of Good Birthdays chances today...had a disappointing season last season but catching him fresh on his debut at a track he likes could be the time.
Pretty Gorgeous has ran on decent ground twice and been beaten twice by a filly she always beats on soft, seems quite obvious she will need soft ground to be winning a G1 and it doesnt look like she will get it in two weeks time. We have a winner of a very weak maiden 2/1 favourite, thats why Snow Lantern is single figures, 2 of the top 3 in the betting are now maiden winners which tells you everything about the depth of the race.
Imperious from Allmankind - I wonder if they might try and go even further with him next season - seemed to settle better there and got the trip no problem. Seems pointless trying to beat Shishkin.
