"I'll praise anybody who gets something right, tory, labour, McCann, anybody. Even the Allam's, but I won't need to because they likely won't" ** ** This para reads as though you have lumped political parties, McCann & the Allam's as one category - all who would likely get it wrong. To me, it reads that you have no confidence in the decisions being made to solve the issues around the virus , which is an incredibly difficult situation for the scientific & health services communities and those in charge of controlling the logistics of proposed solutions from the beginning. Early on, almost all counties were stabbing in the dark against a shape shifting enemy (literally). I of course may be misreading your intended meaning.
Given that Royal Mail deliveries where I live are running 5 days late I'm not at all surprised - all the other deliveries I get from other agencies are on time though.
You have misread my meaning, the main point was 'I'll praise anybody who gets something right, tory, labour, McCann, anybody.'. However it's true that throughout most of last year I had little confidence in what the govt was coming out with. The scientific, voluntary, NGO communities and the NHS performed magnificently in my opinion despite the pressure the govt's actions placed on them. For heaven's sake, when Italy, Spain, France and Germany were locking down, closing borders what was Boris doing? Going round hospitals shaking hands with patients and claiming herd immunity was the answer. Oh, but then it wasn't, let's do track and trace, ah, that doesn't work either. It was an incredibly difficult situation, as you rightly say, but the govt's handling of it was inept, amateurish and irresponsible as were their attempts to communicate a united front to the public. This is just one of many articles from many different sources covering UK's handling of the pandemic, the govt doesn't come out of it well. https://www.theguardian.com/world/n...of-the-uks-handling-of-the-coronavirus-crisis
Just looking at the new heading, and I wondered, if I don't want to march 29 steps, is it okay if I just sort of stagger a bit?
In my experience the planning department having got a ****ing clue about the manufacturing department and what it means to introduce new lines. They, and the bosses, always over sell it and the poor buggers running the lines take the flack whilst all along telling everyone what reality is but no one wants to listen to reality.
The hand shaking thing turned out to be a very embarrassing error of judgement, but just in the name of accuracy, that was before anyone was in lockdown. Italy went into lockdown two weeks before us, France six days before us and Germany a day before us. With the benefit of hindsight, we should obviously have gone earlier, but the delay is often overstated and you can understand a government wanting to avoid a lockdown if at all possible.
CEO Sir Simon Steven says Covid-19 inpatient numbers continue to fall sharply. There were 34,000 severely ill covid patients in hospital January, and there are now 4,000. He recommends reducing the national alert level from 4 to 3.
Anyone know of a private covid pcr test facility in or around Hull? Not the NHS drive in one's like the one at the humber bridge
My wife had one in Boots, £120 24-48 hour turnaround, not in Hull though. Seems to be about the going rate, google it and see if Boots in Hull is doing it. I think Boots in St Stephens is doing them.
Planning ongoing to holland initially on North sea ferries, the dutch .gov site says you need a negative test no more than 24 hours before departure. The ferry goes at 8 pm so need a same day test and result. The uk . Gov site has a list of testers but not their locations, all claim to be nationwide, i guess they take the swab and send it to a lab.
Good luck with that. I think Boots offer a quicker turnaround service, higher price. The Dutch are being really unhelpful with that 24 hour condition, almost as if they don't want you to go there...
