i didn’t get to see the game here unfortunately but was Burge motm or did someone else get it? Having him in this form is huge for us in the remaining games!
O'Nien got it and deservedly so but Burge was very good, in terms of shot stopping there wasn't a lot for him to do but he commanded the box throughout and cleared everybody out claiming crosses. Great stuff from him.
It's not the booze talking because although I've had a drink if anything I was buzzing more before I did, but this is the happiest I've been for some time. I'm very, very happy and proud of the lads who have won us this trophy.
That pass just took out their entire back line - Seeing the 3 Tranmere defenders trying to run back reminded me of Peter Reid trying to track back against Maradona for his '2nd' goal in the hand of god game. Like watching someone running through treacle. Was that 09 down on his knees praying?
yes it was ok, i know the pass was sublime and that gooch had had a quiet game to say the least, but i want to give him plenty of credit for the way he made the run and the fact that he did not just try to blast the ball, he waited until just the right moment and picked his spot well...many would have wanted to take a touch or just put their laces through it.
Yep, Gooch was given the opportunity with the sublime ball through, though his pace got him on the end of the pass. But he made the goal by waiting just long enough for the keeper to commit. It was a fantastically taken chance
That takes some doing at 0-0 in a Cup Final. I've just woken up at my desk where I was watching the match ... ... fell asleep and been here all night
please log in to view this image Henry Winter @henrywinter Congratulations to @SunderlandAFC on ending 48 years of hurt at Wembley. Never forget #SAFC fans taking over Trafalgar Square on a few occasions, four lions in a sea of red and white, great support, no trouble. Sadly, no fans at Wembley this time, but the team did you proud. 12:43 AM · Mar 15th, 2021·Twitter for iPhone
